Is it okay to RSVP to a wedding and then not show up, but still send a gift plus more that would have gone towards the meal? Asking for a friend.

    That’s great. This shouldn’t be a big deal then. Just not showing up would be Smiley winking — definitely a right way and a wrong way . Surprisingly there are people that do just not show up day of and don’t say anything about it!! That’s when it’s a real issue.

    I would tell your friend that it is never ok to RSVP yes then just not go but things happen so I would just make sure to let the bride and groom know as soon as possible that although you said you were going, x and x came up and you will not be able to attend.
