We have 2 kids and either my mom or his mom will be keeping them the night of the wedding. We were just gonna go back home lol. We're having a Friday wedding and won't be leaving for our honeymoon until Sunday or Monday (not official on what we're doing yet). My mom offered yesterday to get us a hotel for our wedding night. She's been married twice and both times just went home afterwards and she says she wants me to have the experience of not going straight home. It wasn't a big deal for me but she really wants to do it for us.

What are you doing (or what did you do) on your wedding night? Going back home? Hotel? Leaving immediately for your honeymoon?

I’m getting married May 11 (Mother’s day weekend) so we’re staying in a bridal mansion that sleeps 15 the night before the wedding (girls upstairs, guys downstairs) and my family are sleeping in cabins the night before. Then that night my family is sleeping in the same bridal mansion, my bridal party is going home and FH and I are staying in the honeymoon cabin on our venue’s property. Since it’s Mothers Day and I will be adopting FH’s daughter we are spending the next day after our wedding with our moms and daughter. We aren’t leaving for our honeymoon until that next Saturday since we got an extra day off work with Memorial Day and my best friend is getting married the Friday after me!

So night after in a cabin, then home for a week, then off to the honeymoon!

We r leaving the reception and immediately heading to the airport a hour and a half away and staying at an airport hotel that night. Our flight for Jamaica leaves 7 the next morning.

Me too 🤗 lol plus we’re gonna be drinking and even though it’s about a 15 minute drive I think a hotel will be the best decision

Our plan is to stay alone in the hotel room on Friday and Saturday night, and our son will stay with my mother both nights. Although, I may hire a babysitter to take our son from the reception back to our hotel room until my mom is done for the night. I figure Saturday morning we can wake up together, then he can use the room to get ready with the groomsmen while I go to the venue and my bridal suite. He suggested just going home after the wedding and I said No! Home has too many distractions (dishes, toys, laundry) and doesn’t put a special end to the whole event. Plus, when the wedding ends, anyone still interested in partying can go back to the hotel and keep drinking without worrying about getting home. That’s what happened at my brother’s wedding; the bridesmaids and groomsmen went back to their rooms, changed, met back at the bar and drank until it closed before going back to our rooms again.
But going home can also be more comfortable, and might feel nice to celebrate the first night married in your own personal space.

Hotel and sent the kid with his Granny! It wasn’t anything extravagant but it really nice to enjoy our night in a hotel! We didn’t go on our honeymoon for three weeks later so that one night was so nice!

We’re definitely getting a room. There’s a casino downtown near our venue that has a really nice hotel attached so we’re thinking of booking a suite there. I may also end up getting a hotel block there if they don’t charge. We’re planning on just going to some bars downtown after our wedding, so then we can just Uber to our suite when we’re ready.

We haven’t booked our honeymoon yet but I don’t want to leave immediately. I’d like to go home the next day, relax with our dog, and decompress from the wedding/finish any last minute packing. Im thinking we leave Monday or Tuesday (wedding is Saturday).

I think you should take your mom up on the offer! Do something different and you might be glad you did!

    Happy planning!

We are getting the heck out of there and leaving for our honeymoon! Ours is on a Sunday & our flight takes off at 11:59 pm that night! We’re so excited for our trip and to be alone together / traveling internationally together for the first time and to be somewhere warm since our wedding is during the winter!

So how did that go? We are in a similar situation...

I’m a bit salty that we might not be able to be alone on our wedding night at least...

So our wedding is 4 days before thanksgiving, we’re going to spend the 3 days after the wedding on a “mini moon” in the city we’re getting married in at a hotel near our venue then go home for thanksgiving and then leave for our honeymoon on Black Friday
