Wedding Month

What made you decide your wedding month? Is there a significance behind the reason you chose the month you wanted to get married in? Originally I wanted to get married in an even month, date and year. Unfortunately the only thing even was the year lol

We choose 6/20/20 because I liked the overall sound and look of it. Lol. Also bc it was the 1st day of Summer! We had it in my father n law's backyard where we live in the mountains so had to be very careful of the weather. It was sunny with a slight breeze.

I’ve always wanted a winter wedding. I grew up outside of Boston and when I was a kid always pictured the snow with a faux fur cape and lots of lights in trees etc. Of course now, I live in Southern California and we’re getting married out here! But I love the colors of winter around Christmas- deep deep reds and greens with lots of twinkle lights and bursts of gold - which are our wedding colors (and black. My MOH and jr bridesmaid are in the deep green, the rest in the red. I’ll be wearing black and gold is our accent). I chose our date specifically because it’s exactly halfway between Thanksgiving and Christmas. We ended up getting “officially” engaged (down on one knee with the ring) on the same day we are getting married and as a bonus, it’s his grandparents wedding anniversary! After I found that out it felt 100% meant to be.

I always imagined myself getting married in the month of June when I was kid, but I felt like so many life things - including unemployment and COVID - had already delayed us getting engaged for almost 2 years. The church where we met had a 3 PM slot open only for either May 21st 2022 or June 4th 2022 and when our choice of reception venue had May 21st open as well, I thought “I can’t wait to marry this guy, so May it is!” 😂

Lol - I completely understand! And May is close

We got married in February on 2/22/22. I picked the month and my husband picked the specific date. He didn't realize it was 2 years to the day he had proposed until well after he chose it, he just thought it was funny and easy to remember since it was a twos-day on a Tuesday. 😆

I knew I wanted a winter wedding (but not a Christmas or New Years wedding). We both wanted our anniversary to be something to look forward to in the doldrums of winter each year (and maybe an excuse to take a trip somewhere sunny). We had our first date in January 2019 and got engaged on Feb 22, 2020 so winter was already a special season for us, despite the seasonal depression.

Yes! Lilac & shades thereof, blush, metallics, and I'm using stargazer lilies as pops of saturated color. My wedding theme is "Wear Something Purple!" I have a vision, but I'm still figuring out the balance.

My big DIY right now is my china-- I'm buying different sets and trying to do pink & purple unmatched table settings.

We chose our date because it was convenient for both of our parents who had trips planned overseas at different times. It was also scheduled around my husband’s ability to successfully acquire and use PTO

Not really - initially I picked a 3-day weekend, so people won't need to take a day off to come to the wedding (or to recover). The wedding got rescheduled due to COVID.

This time I picked the first available date (between the venue/ other families' plans) that is not too soon. That landed us the wedding date of 10-22-2022
