Wedding memories on a budget

Sam, on May 1, 2020 at 11:20 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 1 5

Hi! So the budget for my wedding is $6k. Admittedly, that's what my fiancé and I consider the very highest we can go. We're also trying to be mindful of our carbon footprint throughout this process.

I saw a dress I adore online and have found it for less than $100 so I'm definitely going to scoop it up before anyone else can! I'd be crazy not to!

The problem is I think my mother and future mother-in-law would want to make a day of trying on dresses.

Any advice on what to do?

I'm thinking I should still go and try on dresses that way we can have the experience and I can see some other styles that I could love. My dress is so inexpensive that I have no issue with donating it should I find another.

Are there any other brides in this situation? If so, what have you done?

I think it’s a great idea to just go try on dresses to get an idea of styles. You’d be surprised at what styles you end up liking when you actually put them on!

I bought a dress first online and then went dress shopping too. it was moreso the idea for me to get the experience of finding a dress in person. and mine was also cheap enough where if i ended up not using it, it would have been fine. i say go for it if you want! especially you could do one dress for ceremony and one for reception if you happen upon a gown you love more.

Hi!! I'm putting on a wedding on a budget and have lots of planning experience if you want any tips or have any questions feel free to reach out! I ordered my dress online and am not going to be doing the traditional trying on in a store. I think it is rude to the people who need that sale (especially in these times) knowing that you won't be making the purchase, and honestly could end up heartbreaking if you try on a dress you love but can't afford! Also, I live in New England and there's no way any dress stores are open to the public for a while anyways.

I agree! I think it's a great idea to go try on some to get an idea of styles. You may end up changing what you think you like. Also, you'll never get that experience again of trying on dresses so why not take this chance (:

I understand the low budget! My fiancé and I are trying to not push 5,000 and it can be difficult!! It may still be fun to go and try some one. After all you only get to do this once!!
