Mine is sunday of Memorial weekend next year! We picked the day because it is our anniversary, the venue coordinator brought it to our attention. I think it will be good a lot of people don't work the next day

I'd attend. I've gone to many weddings on holiday weekends.

I'm getting married on 9/1/16 pre-Labor Day weekend. I was a little apprehensive about it at first but once I brought the idea up to my closet friends and family 10 months ahead of time, they were okay with it. It's in the evening so ppl can either plan way ahead of time to take time off or attend after work. I live in NYC where ppl go out any night of the week. Every night can be a Saturday night. So I think your memorial weekend Sunday is fin

At least they have Monday off.

If you'll have a ton of OOT guests, no. Hotels and airfare might be pricier.

We are having our wedding a holiday weekend. We intentionally picked Saturday bc I feel most people spend Sunday/ Monday with family. That said, I've been invited to two wedding that fall on actual holidays and they had low attendance. So it depends what you're looking for, a big thing or not.

Are you planning it for this year?? It may be hard to find vendors on a holiday and in such short notice. I would say it's do-able for next memorial day... it's defiantly a date that I would send STD for so people can plan to attend

I like my long weekends to stay *my* long weekends. I've skipped every Labor Day and NYE and Memorial Day wedding I've ever been invited to. People who love you won't care. Wishy-washy attendees like me will skip it.

ETA: Sunday is the worst day of a holiday weekend to have a wedding. You're ensuring that no one can do anything else. It hijacks the entire long weekend.

Definitely check with your VIPs. Travel and hotels would be expensive especially if you're having it at a popular destination. At this point in me and H's lives, if we weren't close friends or family, we might not attend if we have to spend over a certain amount to get there.

    Edited for clarity
