Wedding Makeup

Hi everyone! I'm wondering who is going for airbrush makeup and who is going for traditional for their wedding? I found a makeup artist that I love, but she only does traditional makeup and I've heard that airbrush might be better? (Side note: she charges the same, if not more than many artists who do both traditional and airbrush). I have combination oily/dry skin. I don't usually wear much makeup and I worry about my oily skin making traditional makeup look cakey by the end of the night - but it's also easier to touch-up, right? I'm not looking to pay someone to stay for touchups

I did traditional. My makeup artist didn’t do airbrush because she said it clings to patches on dry skin so she doesn’t recommend it for a lot of people. I had no issues with my makeup staying.

My makeup artist offers both. My sister did airbrush for hers a few years ago, but I typically prefer traditional. I'll probably do traditional for mine.

My wedding was traditional makeup and my brother's wedding was airbrush. I don't wear a ton of makeup so I didn't necessarily notice a difference.

If you really like the makeup artist you found, I wouldn’t let not having airbrush be a factor. There are so many good primers, setting sprays, and powders these days, I’m sure traditional would be fine! A trial will help you see how it holds up!

I would go with the makeup artist you like & trust. Have her do your trial & see how it holds up throughout the day.

Thank you all! it's good to hear that others have gone with traditional - I've read so many forums on why airbrush is better so I was second-guessing not having the option. I like that I'd be able to touch up traditional makeup (possibly, I'm not very skilled with makeup) whereas I wouldn't be able to anything if airbrush got messed up. I've only ever worn traditional makeup

Nothing wrong w traditional. My hmua recommends do half and half on me to see which works best. I have done airbrush in the past and it stays. I am planning airbrush bc ceremony and dinner after along w pics will mostly be outside and Florida can get hot and humid. If the traditional lasts well then I will save a few and go w that. Try out first.

I’m doing airbrush for my wedding because the trial was fantastic, but I’ve had traditional makeup done as a bridesmaid before. Both stayed on very well, so I think it might help if the makeup artist has a lot of experience.

I did a trial for both traditional and airbrush. I thought the airbrush would look better on me because it looked so amazing on her other clients and it just wasn't for me.

    Doing traditional.

Traditional over here. Been wearing it for years, so that’s all I know. Application technique, primers, setting powers, and setting sprays are key.
Planning to stay inside AC and have cooling fans when outside taking pictures. If I get a little oily then I will have blotting paper and will touch up if I have to. I live here in Texas, so used to keep make up looking good in the heat.

I'm doing traditional for mine and myself and my sister are doing it. I've spent the last year trying a variety of primers, foundations, setting powder, and setting sprays so that I have the best combination for what I want on my wedding day. I'll be doing the majority of my own makeup but my sister will be doing my eyes because she is amazing at eye makeup and the most I normally wear is mascara and eyeliner. The advice I've seen is to not do anything too far off from how you normally look because you don't want to look back at pictures where you don't look like yourself.
