Hello ladies, I'm having my wedding next year in May (2021). Just curious if anyone out there as had MAC or possibly Sephora do their makeup for their wedding and if so how was it and would you recommend?? Thanks Smiley smile

I’ve had my makeup done at Sephora for other occasions, including our engagement photos, but I would never do it for my wedding. You don’t get to pick your MUA and the quality between artists is inconsistent. Not to mention it was really important to me that I had a trial.

I agree with PP. You can't choose your artist. I've done Sephora makeovers and it can be a hit or miss, I wouldn't take the chance for something as big as my wedding.

I saved money and did this for my first wedding (14yrs ago!). It was a bad choice because the appointment before me ran over (her wedding makeup trial) and I ended up being 30 min late and it threw the whole schedule off. That was just one experience, but I wouldn’t do it. I’d hire out someone you like from MAC/Sephora and have them come to you and make it worth their while by also doing bridesmaids’ makeup.

Hi, sorry I'm late to this, but I don't get on here that often! I actually used to be a makeup artist at MAC and honestly, yes, the other comments are completely right! The quality of artists is super inconsistent and you don't want that for your wedding day! Usually the employees can't pick what day they work so whoever you get for a bridal trial may not be the same artist you get for your wedding day. Also, those stores sometimes don't have enough employees to be able to spend one on one time with their clients they have in their chair. They may have to be multitasking and help other customers simultaneously (this happened to me multiple times). This can definitely run your applications over sometimes!

However, if MAC and Sephora are more in line with your budget (they are normally less expensive) then I would choose MAC. MAC actually does certify their employees as makeup artists and has them go through a week long training at their headquarters. Despite what the public might think, Sephora employees are not certified or trained as professionals. They are mainly just employees that work at a retail store that recieve on the job training for that position.

I personally think it would be a better option to hire out someone who is a freelance artist that has been in their field for some time not tied down to a store, and can come to you on your wedding day. You also will cut out travel time that way as well! Hopefully this helps with your decision Smiley smile
