Wedding issues

Hello everyone,

I feel like I am going crazy. Me and my fiancé are trying to get married in a very small ceremony(10ppl) in the Valley of Fire. We have been running into some issues with this venue. The park requires you to have a permit to get married on the land, and they only allow a few select companies to do this. We are on a budget and priorities are a sunset wedding, good photos and the FH wants transportation. All of the inclusive options are lacking in some areas, most when it comes to photography, and some are just our of our budget. We do not want to spend more than $2000 for the ceremony in total, including transportation, officiant, photos and any extras(flowers/sparkling wine). We found a photographer who has an amazing photography style and is within budget. But with a photographer that we love we would have to get just an officiant, of which there is only one permitted by the valley of fire. So we reached out to that officiant, and are looking to book them. However upon further emails we discovered that the permit is only good for 15-20 minutes of the ceremony and would not cover us taking photos past that point. Am I being like a crazy person to feel like so upset by this info? I'm really a t a kiss on what to do. I asked the photographer for some advice, and my fiancé, but because I got this news late last night no one has responded. I'm just scouring the list of approved companies and looking at the photography options that they offer, and I'm getting so upset and desperate. The things I prioritized most for our wedding was a beautiful location and photography, and I feel like I am going to have to downgrade because there isn't very many options.

Oh no Smiley sad that does sound upsetting. Is there a way you can take photos before or after somewhere else that has the same type of vibe ? Or same type of setting ?

This venue seems incredibly difficult to work with. I'm sorry. Have you looked at other parks you might like?

As D said, I'd go ahead and start looking at other places. I'm sorry you're having to worry about this!

Would you and your photographer be ok with just photos of the ceremony and switching to a second location for the rest of the photos? Most photographers will agree to a second location(not everyone has a reception at the same location is why) if it’s within reasonable distance.

Are you particularly attached to a specific location in the park? you could look into having it on public lands that have a similar setting? the regulations vary based on the area, but we are getting married on land that the Forest Service oversees, and as long as we keep it under 75 people, no permit or fee is required. There might be something like that in the surrounding area? getting married in an actual state park or national park had a lot more regulations that I didn't want to deal with.

After a lot of deliberation back and forth with multiple vendors me and my FH found a company who is within our budget, and who had photography that we liked. I was not able to compromise on the location, the Valley of Fire is too beautiful for our ceremony not to be there, so I had to compromise a little as far as getting a different company. I thank everyone who responded with sympathy and advice, this was my first wedding freakout, and it was nice to have some support from fellow peers. Smiley heart
