Wedding invites and rsvp

Bianca, on July 16, 2019 at 2:02 AM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 5

So I’m still a ways away from purchasing invitations. We’re planning to have about 200 guests at our wedding next fall. My plan as of now is to print simple black and white invitations, with a Vellum sheet over it to accent. I’m sorta going for a minimalist, modern feel. I plan to have a details card as well with venue directions, registry info, and rsvp info. Here’s my thoughts...I want to use a rsvp text service versus including a separate rsvp card and envelope or having a wedding website for rsvping. I researched it and it seems cool. I feel like 95% of my guests will be good to go with texting to rsvp, and for the other older guests I plan to also include a note with my personal phone number so that they can just call me. I read that these rsvp text services have a really great respond rate and can even gather all the info and put it in a chart so it’s easy to see who all is coming. It sends out a wedding reminder and you can program it to text your guests different questions, such as if they have food allergies. I’m all about using less paper and postage, plus I’d be annoyed if people still don’t return those pesky rsvp cards after all the extra money is spent! Has anyone here used this before? Would you recommend doing anything differently? And if you are currently planning a wedding and haven’t purchased invites yet, what do you plan to do regarding rsvps? Thanks for your time xox

My best man used it for his. However he included a paper RSVP card anyway but wrote on it that people can also text their RSVP to a certain #

Thanks for your input! A separate paper rsvp card to my more traditional guests might be a good idea.

Just a heads up registry info doesn’t go with a wedding invitation. I’ve never seen a text rsvp and would be a little confused. We had everyone rsvp thru our wedding website. We were able to ask them different questions and export it into a spreadsheet.

Thanks for the advice. We aren’t doing announcements or a save the date so I’m not sure where else to include registry info. I’m not really crazy about doing a wedding website either. Hopefully my guests can figure out the text rsvp lol!

Registry info wouldn’t go on an announcement or save the date either. Shower invite, wedding website, or word of mouth are the only appropriate places. And yeah definitely let us know how the text rsvp goes, I’ve honestly never heard of that before.
