Wedding Invites Advice

Becca, on June 10, 2019 at 8:10 PM Posted in Planning 0 16
Hey y’all!

This is post isn’t much of a I need some advice post. I just wanted to share with y’all and encourage y’all to number your RSVP cards or do something so you can identify who the RSVP is for.

My RSVPs are slowly trickling in (sent them out almost 2 weeks ago). I’m just so thankful I took the time to number the invites. I got invite back that told me 1 person was coming but I had no name. Thankfully I could look them up by the number.

Y'all put so much work into getting invites ready, planning the most spectacular wedding. The least you can do is have a system to identify the cards from each other so you know who is able to celebrate with you!

KEEP BEING AWESOME AND KEEP PLANNING THE BEST WEDDING EVER! 😘

I sadly didn't think of this. I have had a couple people not include their names on the RSVP card, but they included in on the envelope as their return address so I just looked at that.

Quick question about this, if you have an invite that’s addressed to more than one guest like a couple and the mark 1 attending, how do you know which one is attending? I want to do the escort cards correctly based off the rsvps so I wasn’t sure how that worked if not the whole group invited can come?

Aww man that stinks. But luckily you still had some form of identification. So far this one didn’t have any form of identification so I got lucky that I took the time to number.

I would suggest reaching out to them to figure out which one is able to come. It would be a little extra work on your part to figure it out but I would assume it would only be handful that you may need to sort out.

The number or identification method would make it easier for you to identify the family and how many are coming from them. Luckily for me, I could identify the person who didn’t write in their name and we already knew their plus 1 was iffy (most likely a no).

A friend of mine did exactly that and said she was so glad she did! She has been encouraging me to the same for my upcoming nuptials. I plan on it!

That’s so awesome that your friend did it and is encouraging you. I came across this online at some point. I just never thought it would be needed. I kind of was living in the “perfect” world scenario like everyone will put their name on the invites. I was just shocked that it came in handy.

I know one suggestion I saw was to prefill it out for them: “We have Mr. & Mrs. XXX down for a party of 2. Is this correct? Yes or No (insert number of guest)”

I might would have done that if we had finalized our guest list when we ordered our invitations. But that’s another thought.

No problem! It will definitely save stress if you can identify who said who if they forget to put their names on it.

Another thing that you might could do, especially if you print the addresses on labels to make 2 copies and use the 2nd copy as the return address for the RSVP.

Our guests are pretty tech savvy so we directed them to our wedding website and minted has an amazing rsvp tracker that only allows guest to rsvp for the number of people you allow! It also allows private rsvps to events like the rehearsal dinner and welcome party Smiley smile

That’s awesome. Our guest have the opportunity to pick but most of them definitely waited to rsvp through mail. I don’t have a problem either one. But it is nice to know there are a lot of options for keeping track of RSVP 😁

Another great tip! I’m not at the point where I’m sending out invites yet. However, this is all good info for when it’s time. I plan on getting save the dates out sometime this Fall.
