Wedding Invitations

Bree, on May 22, 2019 at 4:39 PM Posted in Planning 0 13

I'm starting to look at wedding invites and could use some inspiration! Our theme is rustic but still as somewhat of an elegant feel too it! I love the look of laser cut and pocket invites but didn't know if they were worth it or not! Share your invites if you have pics and send any advice you can please!

We got ours through Vistaprint on sale. Trust me, going with one flat piece versus a full suite will be a lifesaver.

Why do you say it would be a lifesavor? Are you doing online RSVPs?

We are including an RSVP card for those who don't want to do it online. I've seen invitation suites that had: invitation, RSVP, accommodation details, song requests, and a map. I swear it was like getting a college acceptance packet haha.

Yeah, that's all we're doing. Everything else will be posted on the website.

I think we will be going with one of these or something very similar. I agree that I would much rather get just one or two things in the invitation, that’s what the website is there for after all! Maybe only send the full information if you know you have guests that will have difficulty figuring out the website

We went with Ann's Bridal Bargains. The quality is good and all of them come with free RSVP response card. I paid for postage for the RSVP. The more elaborate your invitations, the more likely you will actually have to pay for postage (more than 1 stamp would be required to send the actual invitation suite due to added weight along with the stamp for return postage for the RSVP). Also, after the wedding is over, people just throw out the invitations. I couldn't justify spending more than a dollar a piece for invitations when they will just be thrown out.

I have a cricut and was going to cut my own pocket invites. But I didn't know what was customary anymore. We have only been invited to one wedding as an adult couple and the invite was more like a STD so I didn't know if they need to be more elaborate!

All of the invites we've received/parents have recieved have been from sites like Vistaprint and Ann's bridal bargain. Basically what has been pictured above by the previous posters. Even if it costs you less to DIY, if the entire suite weighs more than an ounce, you'll have to pay for extra postage, so that's an additional cost that may eat into your DIY savings. Also, I don't know how busy you are, but your time is worth something financially as well. Just some things to consider! There really is no wrong way to send invitations. Basic etiquette dictates that you should send them out within 6-8 weeks of the event, provide postage for RSVP returns, and the invitations should mirror your level of formality and provide the time, place, etc. for the event. Otherwise, people do tons of different things with invitations nowadays.

We might do something like that too! We're getting married at a winery, so it fits really well.
