Wedding invitation.

So we are getting married in 2021 May. I know it might seem a bit too early to start planning, but knowing us it will take a while. I am not great at planning, and it bothers me that my fiancee tries and researches most of the things herself, I want to help her the most that I can so I am doing my own research too and will share it with her later on. Currently I am thinking about wedding invitations and RSVP. Just so you know, I am really horrible at graceful designs and designing things overall. Perhaps that’s why she tends to try and organize everything herself.

Anyways, I thought a cool idea of an invitation would be through a website, it saves paper and it looks modern. Not sure how many people we plan to invite, it’s still on our to do list to make a guest list, but I think this is the best way to do it. I used this platform that I found out earlier and I really liked it, made this website example in 20 minutes or so:
https://maxandlayla.zyrosite.com/ , of course the final version is going to be much more polished, but I tried to stick to blue color as it’s her favorite, and I will have to add more information after we plan everything out. I deleted a lot of sections, but maybe I should keep them? I could include a gallery of some of our pictures, some pictures of things we cherish, and what else? Maybe you guys have more ideas what I could include? Don’t worry, I didn’t put my email on RSVP, it’s just an example but I really like the idea. What do you guys think? Does it look good? How is the design? Should I change the colors? There were a lot of options to switch things around but I am scared to drift too far from the template and make things way too over the top.

So, you wouldn’t send any invitation, not even a digital one? Just give people your wedding website and tell them to RSVP? I think digital invitations are fine for backyard BBQ style weddings, but not anything more formal than that. I don’t think that no invitation at all is ever appropriate.

It's actually not at all too early to start planning. Many wedding venues and vendors book up 12+ months in advance. So you two are smart to start planning early!

As far as your question... if you are planning a casual wedding, digital invitations are fine. But as Caytlyn mentioned, you should still send something. Just providing people with a website is not sufficient.

We sent paper save the dates and invitations and did online RSVP's, which worked very well for us and saved us money. We also had a more formal wedding, so traditional invitations were important for us.

Sorry I probably didn’t explain it very well! I thought we could do an invitation and RSVP through a website, but send save the date in a traditional manner. I guess an invitation should also be sent in paper, as it is more of a traditional wedding. And I should leave a website for RSVP and keep all the information there just in case then. Thanks!

Yes sorry I didn’t explain it very well! the idea was to do an invitation and RSVP through a website, but we would still the send save the date in a traditional manner. But I agree with your idea, it would be better to send an invitation in paper as well, and keep a website for RSVP.
