Wedding Guest Faux Pas??

Did a little Googling earlier, and I was really surprise by some of the stuff I was reading. What faux pas have you experienced or are hoping to avoid?

Here are this week's current worries (subject to change and adding on new worries)

    1. Uncle has "joked" about wearing jeans. I honestly don't care, but know his mom (FH's grandmother) will be upset and fixate on that the entire day. I don't want to spend the wedding listening to her argue with him and rant to anyone who will listen about the f**** jeans!

    2. A ton of people not responding. I accept at least a few won't. I hate calling people, especially outside work and if I don't know them well. Tempted to just have FH take care of that.

    3. People missing the ceremony/showing up super late.

A friend was a bm at a wedding. The parents of the bride hooked up in the bridal suite at the venue.

Which would be okayish... except they had been divorced for 22 years and were both married to other people

I flew out to Vegas to be present at a friend's wedding (he lived there, not a fly-by-night wedding). We had a mutual friend -- actually, I know the friend THROUGH the friend who was getting married. The other friend got married the morning of my friend's wedding, in Vegas!!!! And when he and his new wife showed up to the reception (think they had been dating for like 3 months), he was making comments that it was kind of like their reception too. WHAT??

Naively, I invited said friend to our wedding after he strongly implied that he expected to come. Oh, he's divorced now (after like 3 months, maybe 6). As we get closer to the date, he's been getting super-bizarre and offensive. Earlier this week, he asked me how we plan to get back to the hotel after the reception (it's like 5 miles. Please be able to adult, or call a cab). When I said I couldn't guarantee he'd be able to bum a ride (and I'm too nice to straight out say, do not ask my guests to drive you home), he said the situation was sketchy.

Seriously, he almost had me committing a faux pas and disinviting him. I was so pissed the more the situation went on. There was more to the story with his pressuring me to bring a guest. I posted about it on here a while ago, some of you may remember. Anyway, just kind of an asshat.

On a different note, apparently I am the only bride in the Western world who actually couldn't care less if someone else wears white. There's nothing like a *wedding* dress, ya know? However, my mom who is SUPER clueless, was looking at white and ivory dresses for her MOB dress!!!! I was like, ok, anyone else can wear whatever they want. But you do not get to wear white! She thought I was just trying to be a brat and was like, "I can wear what I want," and thank God my aunt was with us and was like, no, you can't! Honestly wasn't to be a douche, she's just absolutely clueless.

My future brother in law and his fiancé like getting drunk. They have 20 month old. My fear is them drinking like the fishes they are and my SIL, who is pregnant getting stuck taking care of their child. It wouldn't surprise me or FH if they do this. I told FH I will say something.

I have to be honest, FH proposed to me at his sisters wedding but we're all very close and it was her idea! I was suprised that she was so willing to share her day. And she knows I will be forever grateful.

@christine I'm right there with ya! I don't see the big deal personally but also empathize with the other side. I'm pretty breezy by nature though.

When I got married the first time (this is my 2nd marriage) my step mom wore a white lace dress. I couldn't believe it when I saw her.

Many don't bother me. The only one I am slightly worried about it someone proposing at our wedding. I didn't have that fear until last weekend when FMIL was talking about one of FH's cousins and his new girlfriend. Apparently he wants to marry her and he seems like the kind of guy that would do it. I hope he doesn't.

Luckily with our small guest list I didn't have to worry about the proposal thing as there were no dating couples there. It was all mostly married couples and then a handful of single folks. The only thing that would have set me off (and largely because it would have meant spending half the reception trying to keep my very traditional grandma from beating people up and/or bodily kicking them out of the wedding) was anyone wearing white or black. I was raised very liberally for the most part but oddly very traditionally when it comes to certain traditions, esp when it comes to the older generation in my family. If anyone had showed up in all black I wouldn't have heard the end of it until the day I died (or perhaps if I managed to outlive everyone at the wedding, lol!).

Mine is fear is that my parents will show up.

    Little back story on this.

We were having the wedding at my parents house because my father wanted to be nice and let us use the property which is very beautiful. Well My mother always needs to have everything her way and all about her. She had a total hissy fit about not being able to control the wedding guests etc (myself and the groom are in our 40's and paying for the entire thing) to the point that she was being so hostile and nasty that we had to completely change the venue 2 weeks yes 2 WEEKS before the event. Needless to say she is no longer invited because of her behavior.

FH's sister's boyfriend told me he was going to propose at the wedding, then lashed out and called me a bridezilla when I said I was uncomfortable with that idea. FH also told him not to, but I have a feeling we will have to be on guard watching out for that anyway because he's a jerk.

We also have some obnoxious relatives who will show up with uninvited kids and other miscellaneous guests, even though we clearly indicated number of seats reserved on the RSVP cards.

People bringing uninvited kids. And I know it isn't a rule that gifts must be purchased from the registry, but I saw all the useless junk one of my recently-married friends received. Good Gawd I don't want to have to clutter my new basement with that stuff.

The worst guest I had seen was at an outdoor, country wedding. One of the friends of the Bride's father showed up with a beer in each hand and a shirt that said F*#k You. And obviously very drunk...but that's tame compared to what I have seen on here! Lol!

Is it weird that I'm kind of excited for guest faux pas at my wedding? My parents always talk about how they only ever remember bad things that happen at weddings and to be honest, I don't mind if people remember my wedding for a hilarious bad thing. As long as I don't commit a faux pas and get judged for the rest of my life I'm good LOL!

Someone wearing white and Uninvited guests just showing up are both my biggest fears

My grandma is one of four and does not talk to a single one of her siblings over *surprise* a major money issue that happened over 10 years ago. I on the other hand am very, very close with my two great aunts and great uncle. I am having a small wedding and am hoping a fight/argument will not breakout.
