Wedding games!

Hi everyone! What are some good, fun games to do during the reception? FH and I agreed on the shoe game and said no to the dollar dance, but that's as far as we've gotten. Any suggestions?

You gotta make the choice of games or no games guest specific - what do your friends and family enjoy? For instance, everyone on my grandma's side play michigan rummey whenever we get together so I'm thinking of bringing a bucket full of pennies and tons of card decks since none of them ever get on the dance floor at weddings.

If there are people at my reception playing Monopoly or Shoots n Ladders, just take me out back and put me down.

I will be playing the shoe game and the anniversary dance. The anniversary dance is all married couple join you on the dance floor. They then start calling out amounts of time until the couple married the longest are dancing alone. ex: married for 6 months, 1 year, 5 years, 10 and so on.

I did the shoe game for my sister's engagement party to fill time. Never have I EVER seen a game played at a wedding. Why would you stop the fun of the reception? Just to have people look at you doing something they don't care about?

Unless it’s “can you do more shots than the bride?” I’ve never played any games at a wedding.

We have a gorgeous outdoor area at our venue, and the only "game" I would really consider is something like cornhole perhaps for cocktail hour. I think during weddings people want to kind of mingle and flow as they wish without scheduled things to "do" (there's already so many scheduled aspects of the wedding like the first dances, cake cutting, bouquet toss, garter toss, etc.) I would say just let people do their own thing.

I would not recommend games for adults, but if you have children, I would definitely have a children's table with games/ things to keep them occupied.

Please no anniversary dance -- unless you are absolutely certain you will have no recently divorced or widowed people there. There is no need.

The shoe dance is basically stop dancing and drinking and look at us.

I see no need for games for adults, at most set up tables for card games in an adjacent room, or lawn games outside i appropriate. People come to dance, drink and talk with friends and relatives.

It is fine to interrupt the flow with brief speeches and first dances, but other than that, please let it go.
