I'm trying to figure out what I should do. I need to pick out my wedding flowers and make sure they come in under $1000. My wedding is in June in Virginia (Central). I just don't want to use gerber daisies. Can and how can I do 4 bouquets, 1 bridal bouquet, 6 bouteniers, 2 coursages, and about 10...

    Hello Holly:

One idea and I used this for one of my most formal baby showers. I used tall thin cylinder vases and put pebbles on the bottom (color of your choice) and then I placed one orchid stem in each one. Then I filled the table with favor boxes and votive candles. We had 11 tables, a gift table, and a entrance table. It looked amazing and my client did not spend more than $200 (vases and all). In your case you could use a little more stems to fill up your vase or combine 2 or 3 different flowers around the same tones. Also, hydrangeas are wonderful and they could fill up the space. You will be amazed how much difference a few votive candles and nice favors make when decorating. The time and place of your wedding makes a huge difference too. Give me a call and I could give you a ton of more ideas. 305-775-2617. Ask for Mirel I am the president and head coordinator.

    Thanks!

$1,000 you can hire a professional that can take this off your head. Make sure you find somebody local that you trust and have seen their work. Smiley smile

I did mine for under $700. 12 centerpieces, 2 other centerpieces for misc. tables, bouquet, flower girl flowers, cake topper, flowers for 6 buffet tables, 14 cocktail table centerpieces, 9 bouts, and 7 corsages. I did half of them myself and had a designer do the rest.

Definitely check with local florists. Tell them your budget and what you want to fit in to that budget.

My sister and her friend (both florists) did my daughters flowers....they were a gift. Had we paid for them, the tab would have been $1180.

That was for 10 reception centerpieces; 2 large arrangements for the ceremony, that were moved to the reception room; brides bouquet; 3 BM bouquets; two moms bouquets; 3 corsages; 6 bouts; one toss away bouquet (that was also used on the guest book table; 5 head table "fish bowls" with flowers.

The non-floral is a biggie. Try alternating floral centerpieces with a vase filled with water and pretty stones (you pick the color), and floating candles. When you light the candles, they reflect of the water and give a low-light reception a beautiful glow. When the vase is placed over a mirror, it's even more beautiful.

Another option is simple mirrors with votive candles and pretty silk petals scattered about.

You can find simple white votives (already in clear glass holders) at Wal-Mart. They are about $6.50 for a pack of 12, and I have bought like 10 boxes of them for my centerpieces.

I would have the florist do the corsages and things of that nature, and then just order a bunch of random flowers from costco and make the centerpieces a DIY project...
