Wedding favors.

Kellie, on August 1, 2019 at 9:23 AM Posted in Wedding Reception 0 35
Are wedding favors really a thing? I’ve never been to a wedding where wedding favors were given out. What are some ideas?

We have bubbles for the send off, but I don’t know if I would consider that a favor.

Our theme is rustic modern. Copper arch, black accents, ect.

They definitely are not necessary so if you wanted to do without them that is totally fine too

Yes, favors are a thing, but they're definitely not a necessity. Bubbles for your own send off wouldn't be a favor for your guests. The best favors are edible. Things like smores kits, a candy bar, or take home cookies. If you choose something that's not edible, I would prepare to have a lot left over.

Wedding favors are apart of traditional weddings, but they aren't necessary and can be forgone if you want to save some money. We chose to have them though. We did personalized koozies.

In lieu of favors my cousin put a card on each table explaining that she donated the money she would’ve spent on something to a dog rescue instead. I absolutely LOVED the idea! And it was one of the things I remembered the most from her wedding.

You can totally skip the favors if you'd prefer!

The only wedding favors that are worth it in my opinion are the ones that are edible. Most people leave them on the tables at the end of the night so don't stress about it if you don't want to do them. Spend your money on other things.

I didn't want traditional wedding favors or ones that people just didn't take after I spent the money on them. We decided to do wrapped candy bars. We are getting full size Hershey bars and putting a wrap around them with their name and a little note thanking them for coming and it will be placed at their seat. It doubles as a favor and a name card Smiley smile everyone loves chocolate right?

I've seen personally wrapped Hershey bars, personalized M&Ms, monogrammed cookies and honey bears, mints, a fill-your-own bag of candy, and a donation made to a hospital that helped the bride's father. I actually don't know that I've been to a wedding without favors, but they're certainly not necessary.

Our venue offers desserts with dinner, and outside food isn’t allowed aside from the cake. But I’m thinking maybe some candy!

I'm thinking candy too. My friend put candies in her centerpieces and passed out bags so people could help themselves during the wedding take them home as favors.

I’m thinking about making Buckeyes. I found some really cute rustic boxes that I’ll put them in and leave at everyone’s spot at the table. I just wanted something cheap that people would enjoy and take home so there wouldn’t be any left over!

I've gotten personalized m&m's, coffee beans, personalized wine glasses, smore's kits, candy from candy buffet, and a bottle opener that was in the shape of a key. Edible favors are my personal favorite. So yes they are a thing but not a requirement.

Blunt time: I think they were invented from someone who owns a company selling them, lol. When I was a first time bride in 1994 they were NOT a thing. When I got remarried in 2017, people were asking me: "Are you doing favors?" I was like, "You mean doing a favor for someone?" I had never heard of it, lol!!!

Feel free to skip it, we went to a wedding last Saturday and the favor was a packet of seeds. In is August in MN, I left them. They would be lost by next spring. Honestly unless it is a commercially prepared food item, I leave it behind.

I don't think they are required but I have seen some really inventive, low cost ones if that is a concern. I think the number 1 for most people is anything edible, especially if the couple bakes well. I really love the s'mores kits too though. A poster on another thread mentioned writing recipe cards from the couple for their guests but you really need to know your audience for that one. We are doing cute bottle openers shaped like antique keys and it was really inexpensive. There are so many cute ideas online.

Favors aren't necessary, but they are a nice to have! We're doing little bags with a stamp that says love is brewing filled with coffee beans!
