Wedding favors

Are you doing them or not? And why? I think it's fun, but a waste of money. I've never used any wedding favor I've gotten in the past. There are some favor ideas that I would like to do, but it's extra money to spend on something that I'm not sure people even really care about. What do you guys...

Wow! We had friends that did something similar and they ended up with sooo many left over treats. We won’t be doing favors, I would rather put that money into a photo booth or photo back drop and props for the guests to have fun with.

I ordered stadium cups printed with We came for the "I Do's" and stayed for the free booze" with our names date and location for our beach house reception, there will be an open serve yourself bar. They are cheaper than koozies and guests can use or toss.

We'll be doing something consumable... a mini cake, a pecan candy, a bottle of wine with a customized label, etc.

My partner was against favors until I found a local company that does alcohol-infused truffles (e.g. champagne mimosa, banana daquiri). It actually says a lot about us and our guests. Smiley laugh

Late to the game here but I think we're going to do mini bottles of wine (half red, half white) that cost less than $2 per bottle and just do a sign that says "Cheers to the newlyweds!" so we don't have to bother with tying signs or putting on stickers to each bottle. We're doing an open bar and a lot of our guests are partiers so figure it works!

Skipping them! We are trying to cut as many costs as possible so we can spend money on the big things (venue, food, photo, etc.).

At first we decided to not do any favors, but when we were wrapping all of the details up, our venue mentioned they did a late night snack thing. So we sent our guests off with burgers and fries in little take out boxes, complete with a cute little ketchup bottle. It was a hit! And it was reasonably priced.

I’m actually doing them this time. We are renewing our wedding vows for our 10th anniversary. It’s a small destination wedding in Vegas for a total of 30 people. So we are using those disposable 35 mm cameras will be favors for the guest to use. They can take pics with us and others and keep the camera and develops whatever pics they take.

We are doing can/bottle koozies and dollar store sunglasses for our beach wedding. The koozies people can use that night & potentially for future cans/bottles & FH thought the sunglasses would be a nice touch since we are doing sunset on the beach ~ they should come in handy for folks who left theirs in the car. Smiley smile

Mind you we are only having about $30 guests so the over all cost wasn't a lot.

My venue already does little boxes with candies or almonds as a favor. I'm also thinking about making resin coasters that look like agates, (gemstone look is our theme) that will double as escort/place cards. This way, they have a personalized coaster, which at least has a use AND can be super easy to pack for out of town guests.

We're doing these mini succulents, which will double as our seating cards! I grew the succulents myself, they're very easy to do. I don't know what your time frame is, but it would take probably 4-6months. I got the planters online for an inexpensive price. If you want more information, let me know! They will be similar to the picture

I'm doing favors because I'm really excited to! Lol. We're doing wooden ornaments (New Mexico state shaped) with our names & the date on them. We chose this because most of the guests do not live near us, and it's a little something from our home to theirs. Plus they only need to use it once a year, haha!

I've definitely considered koozies to replace them or as another one, though. I can't get over how cute the ones I found are.

We're doing a photobooth that allows for unlimited turns/prints, which I originally thought would be the only "favors" we'd provide... but we're also considering koozies, since they'll be usable that day/night as well as later on! I agree with folks on doing something that is practical, usable, edible, etc. and not just random trinkets that will ultimately be thrown away. I actually have wedding-guilt and have a whole drawer of friends' wedding favors that I couldn't bring myself to toss (because I am who I am lol) but I know I'll never actually look at again... little boxes they hand-painted and glued things on, fake "jewels" just sitting around collecting dust, bookmarks, and so on. I know so much work and thought went into them which is why I hang on to it all, but eventually it will be dumped in the garbage...
