Wedding entertainment

For those of you not hiring a DJ. What sort of entertainment are you having? If you just made an iPod playlist for the night, how did that go?

So initially I didn't plan to hire a DJ. And I went to a wedding this weekend that didn't have one. They had a photobooth and people just socialized amongst themselves. It had no dance floor either.

I have a speaker that im going to have playing a playlist I made. My wedding is an intimate dinner for two hours and its beauty and the beast theme. So my playlist is about 3 hours long with Disney love/regular songs. My wedding is in December, my family is not big on dancing so it works out.

My reception is going to basically be a casual reception dinner. I’m planning on making some playlists on my iPhone so we have some music in the background.

We will just turn it up when we have our first dance.

Yep, speaker and a playlist. We weren't planning on having any dancing at all though, as we had an afternoon tea vibe going on. It went fine. Really sweet.

I'm in the same issue. We would have yard games and just socializing but I also want the traditional announcements of us, first dance and father daughter dance. I don't know how i would do that without a DJ. Anyone who had a small wedding guest list who still had the traditional dances?

If you do the iPod, you will need to rent speakers and possibly other equipment. We are having an affordable local band . Something we considered was a jazz trio also

We're just making playlists but my friend is loaning us some sound equipment. Also, another friend is doing some live acoustic music for us. There will be lawn games, board games, cards in addition to the dancing.

For our DW, we had a violist for the ceremony, accordionist for cocktail hour, and a playlist for dinner/dessert (no dancing). Worked great. I would highly suggest a DJ though if you want dancing.
