Wedding during the pandemic

Originally we had our wedding set for September 19th, 2020. An outdoor ceremony and indoor reception, 50 guest. I live in Connecticut. I was told that Connecticut will allow 50 people or less to gather by the end of July so I'm hoping by September we would be fine. However, Some people may not want to gather together with 50 people during a time like this. Since the pandemic, I am debating pushing back the date for when people would feel more comfortable to attend a wedding. At the same time, I don't want to push back the marriage. My fiancee and I have been together for 8 years. Engaged for 2 years. We have set our minds up for this year to move forward with our future. I was debating pushing back the celebration to next year. Have the ceremony this year and renew next year. However, my problem is I don't know if I want to do it twice. I don't want the second time to be less special than the first. I don't know if it's appropriate to do it twice. Since I was only going to have parents, grandparents and siblings for the small ceremony this year the allow the others to join us next year. Honestly don't know what to do. Planning a wedding during this pandemic is difficult. Any suggestions?

We went through the same dilemma and decided to still get married and elope on our date May 16th with 7 people in attendance. We didn't want to do this twice and put more money out of our pockets. Its appropriate to do a vow renewal next year, but all up to you and FH. You can always have people "zoom"in too

Yeah. I'm thinking about just doing immediate family which is about 17 people at a park.

I think that would be nice! And pretty! Good photo opportunities. We eloped in an outdoor garden ceremony. I have no regrets the way we did it. It made it so much more simple with having less people and the expense went down as well too.

We’re getting married in NH in June and are having 17 people for an outdoor ceremony and small reception and then we’ll have a party next year (MIL really wants it). I didn’t want another ceremony tho so it would just be a party/celebration, maybe on our 1 year anniversary.
    Good luck to you!!

    Hopefully this helps:

We cancelled our original big celebration and will get married just us and my FH's parents/sister. Next year, if everythings calmed down, we'll throw a BBQ to celebrate. If it doesn't work out for the BBQ, we're okay with it because we'll be married.
