Wedding Dresses without a Train

Kerry, on August 12, 2016 at 2:06 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 20

I am learning towards getting a bridesmaids dress for my dress. I know I definitely do not want a train and I'd also like to keep the cost low. A bridesmaid dress seems the way to go. But in searching I'm not seeing anything I love yet. I am seeing more wedding dresses that would be great if they didn't have a train. Does anyone know of or have come across any dress designers that feature no train wedding dresses?

Some of the DB Studio dresses at David's have no train.

    Check BLDN- and pagent dresses.

Honestly one of the things that differentiats bridal from bridesmaid is the train. I looked high and low for a colored gown with a train- because I wanted one.

The big factor was the train. that really made the difference.

Keep hunting formal gowns and pagent gowns- Lord and Taylor had a BEAUTIFUL selection of dresses when I was there- great sale too this past weekend. - very few with trains.

Tried this on too, as you can see. No train. Lovely gown.

I'm going to second Jo. BHLDN has a few dresses without trains. The Annabelle looks really bridal and does not have a train. They even have lace tops you can add too make it even more bridal.

I found some gorgeous Amsale dresses at Nordstrom early in my search when I wasn't sure about a train. Definitely check Nordstrom!

I originally thought I was going to do a bridesmaid dress as well, but I felt like none of them were stunning enough and that I wouldn't stand out against the BMs. And I also never wanted a train! BUT, I tried the dress on that I ended up getting (it has a train) thinking I would have the train removed. I fell in love with it, and decided not to have it removed! So I guess what I'm saying is, don't pass up a dress with a train that is orherwise what you like, because yes it can be removed but also you may find that you like it anyway. I'm so happy I didn't just pass my dress of because of that. If you absolutely don't want a train, just keep looking. Before I bought my dress, I had seen some on J Crew's website and BHLDN's website under the reception dress section that were a little simpler but still had that bridal feel. Good luck!

Depending on the dress, you may be able to have a train removed, too. So don't rule a dress out just because of the train!

My dress is made of tulle at the bottom. That may be an option if you like that style.

You can ask your seamstress to remove the train. I was going to have my train cut off but she's going to do a 1 point bustle and I'll prob just have it bustled for the ceremony

I started out exactly as you. I ultimately bought a wedding dress and had them remove the train. Everyone (mom, sister, 2 seamstresses) kept trying to convince me to keep the train or bustle it, but I'm glad I went with my gut. I like it much better without the train.

You should try on wedding dresses and ask the consultant if you can remove the train (some dresses, they are not allowed to alter like that, but you can take it to your own seamstress to do it). Also, have them pin the bustle look so you can decide before cutting it off.

I bought a dress without a train from a small local boutique. It did make the search more difficult but there are some out there!

I'm trying to attach a photo of mine but I'm having trouble...

I was set on no train until I tried on my dream dress that had a train and I don't hate it like I thought I would! Maybe try some wedding dresses on with small trains? They can always put one of those hooks on the back to hold the train up if it's small

You can always have a seamstress remove the train if you find a dress you love that has one!
