Do you travel to try dresses? What is your budget for a dress? Would you consider ordering online (with no return policy)? thanks Smiley smile

I initially had a budget of maybe a few hundred but then my friend gave me this idea to look for prom or evening gowns instead. So I saved a ton of money buying a white evening gown aha. I got mine online too. My tip for that is go in person to places to see what styles you like first so you know what you think looks best on you style wise. And look at return policies.

I went to 3 different bridal salons, all of which were about 1.5 hours from where I live. I was looking to try on dresses by specific designers, so I had to travel. I would never order a gown online... but I definitely wouldn't if I could not return it. Bridal gown sizes run VERY different from regular sizes. So trying on is pretty necessary. My budget was up to $2,500.

I stayed in my area and went to 2 local boutiques, and was able to find THE dress. But if I didn't, I would not have been opposed to traveling to find my dress.

The only thing I would say about ordering online is make sure you know your size, so try dresses on in person first.

I was convinced I could get a beautiful dress for just a few hundred dollars and did try to find something local, I live in a relatively metropolitan area so there were plenty of options, but the one I liked the most was out of my budget and wasn't quite perfect so I went online. In fact I started there so I would have an idea of what I wanted and what I could get it for. Because I am 6' tall I had to order specific measurements to ensure the dress fit me right so whether it's right or wrong, there is no chance to return. My dress will be here by the end of the week and I am simultaneously nervous and excited. But I did a LOT of research on the dressmaker and feel confident that with the measurements I submitted this is going to be amazing. I did add a half inch here and there because I would rather have to take it in than be unable to wear it. My dress cost $100 shipped so paying a bit more for alterations still keeps me under budget.

Thank you so much for sharing your experience! would love to see the dress once you receive it! I am sure you will look amazing!! in case it does not fit properly, you can still do some alterations with a local dressmaker.

I had to travel two hours to buy my dress. All the options around me were local boutiques that cost way too much, so I made the trip to David's Bridal. My dad wanted to pay for the dress, so we had a budget of $500.

Also, i would be wary of buying online with no return policy. It seems too risky for getting a dress you end up not liking or able to wear!

I traveled only because I was visiting my sister in another state and we went dress shopping together since she wasn't able to come home when we would have gone. We went to David's Bridal and we have one about an hour from where I live so it worked out. I buy clothes online all the time but idk if I'd order a wedding dress, especially if I couldn't return it. I just never know how something will fit and I don't want to be stuck with it. My budget was $1000 and I spent less than half that.

I was lucky enough to find my dress about 40 minutes from my home. I was on the verge of feeling like I needed to go into Chicago (I live in northern Illinois so not a huge deal), but got lucky and found an awesome boutique with so many gorgeous dresses across the state line in Wisconsin. I am super picky and could not envision myself in anything so I needed to try dresses on-ordering online would have never worked.

I traveled a little over 90 minutes for my dress. I went to a boutique that specializes in plus-size brides so it was a huge factor for me. I wanted to spend between $500-$1000 and spent $875.

I traveled 6 hours for my dress, but that’s because I wanted to go with my mom so I made it a mini vacation. My original budget was $1,000 (mom and dad paying) but I ended up spending $2,200 on my dress. I paid the difference and was totally fine with it because I LOVE my dress!
