I went to pick up my wedding dress (the now discontinued Mylene Marie style from Maggie Sottero) today after purchasing it because I bought a sample and paid for the bridal boutique to "refurbish" it. When I went to get the dress today, I noticed some snags on it (the dress has a tulle netting) that I had not noticed before, but they aren't super noticeable, and they can't really be "fixed". However, I also noticed small stains on the dress, which I definitely thought would have been removed in the refurbishing process. I ended up leaving the dress there for them to fix the stains and I'll have to drive back to get it in a couple weeks. This experience stressed me out for a few reasons:
1. It was almost $300 for this refurbishing and they still didn't notice some very noticeable stains and they didn't at all seem apologetic that they were going to let me take home a dress with stains on it. Is this normal? Should I be hesitant to get my alterations done at the same place?
2. My dress fit pretty perfectly when I first bought it, but trying it on this time I noticed it was a bit tighter (like uncomfortably tight) around my waist (the dress is open back and A-line, so the tightest part is right around the waist/bottom of rib cage where it would be harder to lose weight) and that it took the consultant a while to get me zipped into it. The dress still fit, but it was uncomfortable and I don't want to be stressed out that I will not fit into my dress as my day gets closer. I'm not the type of bride to buy a dress that's too small and then try to lose weight to fit into it, and I'm now regretting getting a sample dress instead of ordering a dress one size too large and having it sized down. Does anyone have knowledge about the seam allowances for Maggie Sottero and whether or not I can have my dress let out?
3. The beading on the top part of the dress was uncomfortable on my arms, even just having it on for a few minutes. I don't know if the beading was uncomfortable because the dress was pinned on the straps by my consultant when I first purchased it, so it sat differently on my body and didn't scratch me, but I'm now worried I'm doing to get scratched all night.
Other context: My wedding is in October 2021.
