I am so excited to begin my search for the perfect dress! Any advice on how to prepare, or what to expect?

Try on styles, colors, etc., that you think you don't like. It often turns out that it's the perfect style on you. Don't jump at the first dress that feels like it might be it. Don't let the associates stear you away from something you love. Stick to your budget!! Don't bring more than two people or it gets difficult for you. And have fun!!! It's your day, you never get to do this again, so enjoy yourself! Look for "pampered bride" experiences. Some places will have dates that they offer champagne, strawberries, etc. So you get spoiled.

I went a couple weeks ago for the time and the best advice I can give you is be open to try on all different styles even if you think you don’t like. The worse thing that can happen is you go onto the next dress. Good luck! It’s so much fun!!! Also if your bringing a lot of people make sure you drink water while your there and if you find some you absolutely love I went back into the dressing room and just asked my mom to come in with me or be by myself for a minute because it’s a lot to take it with everyone’s opinions! I hope you have fun!!

    Look online first.

This will help narrow down the “type” of 👰👗 that you like.

Then, you can save them to do a side by side comparison to get it down to just a few.

After that, maybe you can find a way to add your self into the dress with an app to gauge how you look.

    Congratulations and 🍀‼️

Go in with a completely open mind, don’t look online first and only try on dresses you think you like from that because everything looks sooo different on a real person compared to a model or stock image. I tried on each type of silhouette and narrowed it down from there. Don’t try on a dress that’s more than your budget. Stay hydrated and be sure and eat something if you’re going to multiple appointments.

Do research on your body type and try on at least one of each type I was very surprised to end up in my dress. Don’t try on too many and take notes of what you like and don’t. One trip by yourself is not bad it will actually help a lot. Sleeping on a decision is not a bad idea. Get pictures!!!!! It always looks different on camera. Overall when you know you know DONT settle even a little there are too many dresses not to have what you want out there

I would say to definitely show them pictures of stuff you like. Do research on styles that would look best for your body type, that way you know where to start! Do not feel like you have to cry if you find the one. I didn’t cry, and felt like something was wrong with me & questioned if it was the right one. When I showed my close friends they told me that it was exactly what they imagined for me, and that I couldn’t have found a more perfect dress for me! It made me feel so much better! Then I met a girl who said she didn’t cry either. I love my dress, & am confident that I made the right choice!

I think looking at dresses online or in magazines beforehand is a good idea, but you should be looking for components that you like, not specific dresses. For example, when I went shopping, I told my consultant that I liked dresses that were fitted from the top to the waist/hips, and flowy but not too poofy from there to the bottom. I liked illusion necklines and intricate details, and I wasn't keen on a strapless dress, but I was open to trying some, and also open to anything they thought would look good on me.

She also had a great way of going through dresses: try on the first and see what you think, then try on the second. Compare the two - most likely you'll like one more than the other. The winner stays in the dressing room, and the loser goes back to the racks. Then try on the third and compare to the winner. I went through 12-15 dresses like this and came out with two that I liked more than the rest, and chose one after trying them both on again.

    Good luck and have fun!

Bear in mind that there may well only be one sample size of each gown so you may need to use your imagination a little in terms of how a dress would look fitted to you properly. The sample size of my dress was at least 2 sizes too small so it wouldn't button up the back at all. I can't wait to put it on in a couple of weeks and be able to see it done up properly! A lot of the other dresses I tried on were far too big and had to be clipped.

Wedding dress sizes, depending on the designer, also often don't match what we are used to in regular clothing sizes, so don't worry if the size you need is not the same as the size you would normally wear. I am glad I was prepared for that!
