Hey ladies - I have a dilemma for how to go about wedding dress shopping. For a little background - I live 4 hours away from most of my family but I want to go shopping up by my house (the wedding will also be up here). Two of my bridesmaids are nearby-ish but my sister who is the MOH and my cousin who is another bridesmaid are 4 hours away. On top of that, my mother, step mother, and potentially my father wants to go. My FMIL has also said she would like to join. That's 7 people who want to all go. My mom and step mom do not in the slightest bit get along and are both extremely opinionated people. My mom is already guilting me about various aspects of wedding dress shopping - the styles I like are too revealing, she only went with her mom, why do I live so far away, etc, etc. She has only come up to where I live 3 times in the last 10 years, has never met my future in laws, and has never seen my house. Part of me just wants to grab one or two bridesmaid and just go without the rest of the drama. But I know if I do that, it will cause drama as well. Has anyone been in this situation or something similar? Any advice?

I live several hours from my family. I ended up going with Azazie for my dress (they're a high quality online vendor who I HIGHLY recommend). I ordered a few sample styles that I liked ($15 each, shipping included both ways), had them shipped to my mom's house, bought a few bottles of wine and a to-go cake tasting box from the bakery, and invited over my sister/ MOH, FMIL, and step mom. They ordered some sample dresses too to try on. We all tried on dresses, they saw me "say yes to the dress", we ate cake, and drank wine, all in a relaxed home atmosphere. Then we went out to lunch. My step mom and mom don't entirely get along, but it all worked! I would recommend it to EVERYONE over the rushed, weird, hassle of boutique dress try-ons!

I took my mom and dad only just to limit the number of opinions. I already had several dresses in mind that I wanted to try on, so I was trying to make it as easy and enjoyable for myself as possible. You hope to only do this 1 time! I would select the 1-3 people that you think will make this experience fun and stress free for you. Don't worry about everyone else. This isn't their day. It's yours Smiley smile

I would save yourself the headache and take one or two trusted friends. One thing I have learned, not just wedding planning, but in life.....you can't please everyone.

I went to 3 places, the first had my entire party and it was just too many opinoins and I liked the dress and did not love it. Second went with 1 bridesmaid, beautiful dress but out of budget, third went with my maid of honor (who knows me best) and bought the perfect dress that day!

Go with who will make you comfortable! It's a big decision, you need people who will help you make it! Good luck
