Wedding dress measurements

C, on February 12, 2020 at 2:19 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 9
I am wondering how the bridal shop measured everyone for their dresses? Mine only did bust, waist, and hips. They did not measure hollow to hem. Now I am worried that my dress will be too short. I am 5’7” tall and my dress has a hollow to hem of 58. I was hoping to wear heels but could go for flats if necessary. Are they supposed to measure hollow to hem? I was unaware this could be an issue until I looked up the sizing charts online

I had all 4 measurements done, bust, waist, hip and hollow to hem. They had me come in for a separate appointment to measure for the hem, I brought the shoes I would be wearing that day. My dress did came with a special hem for an additional charge to save on alterations, I am 5'2. When did you order your dress? Can you give them a call and double check that they don't need the hem measurement?

I ordered my dress back in December. I might have to call them and check. On the receipt it only lists my 3 measurements for bust, waist, and hips. They’ve already ordered the dress and it gets here in May

Mine only measured 3. I think with length they just had standard or extra long. I am short and plan on wearing flats, so I didn't pay attention.

Mine measured all 4. You should ask them why they dont measure hollow to hem..

Perhaps they didn't think your dress needed a specific hem it may come in a standard length and your height already compliments that length, but I would just give them a call and see what they say.

Mine only did the same 3 measurements. I looked up my dress designer and the hollow to hem was 59 inches. I haven't tried my dress yet, but it just came in and I am going tomorrow. Google says a 59 is designed for a person of 5'7 with 2 inches for heels. also depends on the cut of the dress, where it falls on you and how long a torso you have. You could measure your own, just look for a video on youtube. That way you can get an idea of were the dress will fall.

I think you’re within the height range that does not tend to need the extra length. I’m 5’10” and used to buying every piece of clothing in tall sizes or with extra length. The salon recommended I order regular length unless I was planning to wear a heel taller than 3.5”. So I ordered the regular length, wore 3.25” heels and needed no hem alteration at all, the length of the dress fit perfectly. Call the shop to double check, but I think you’ll be fine.

Daughter is 5'11" and her standard length dress was the perfect length for her, wearing flats (which were her preference). I think you're well within the standard height range for most regular wedding dresses.

Typically, wedding dresses are designed for people who are 5'9" or 5'10", wearing two-inch heels. The idea is that it's easier to hem a dress that is too long than to lengthen a dress that is too short. You should be fine.
