Wedding Dress - Larger Bust

Marche, on December 7, 2018 at 11:46 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 8

I really love this dress. I have a larger bust, however (I'm a large, enhanced DD but need some support to get the girls up there

) I don't know much about support in gowns. Is there a way to make this style supportive at all for a larger busted woman? Undergarments that can be worn?

I am also large busted (DD/DDD) and while I was dress shopping the owner showed me that the sides of the dress need to come up high enough near my arm pits to support my girls. This dress looks like it should support you and they can put cups into the dress to give extra support. I didn't think this was possible with my dress either, but the sample dress I tried on had cups in it for a much smaller girl and between the snug fit of the dress and those mini cups my girls were up there and proud. Have you tried this dress on yet?

No Smiley sad Its online and no returns, but at a $400 price range. I love it, and for the price I have a hard time passing it up. I would be fine having any alterations needed at that price point. Having larger girls AND being 6'0 tall makes this a challenge for sure and I'm not a real fan of the higher back corset styles. I almost want to bite the bullet and just see what happens. I can always try reselling it I guess on Facebook marketplace if it doesnt work.

I recommend trying on a similar style so you can at least determine if you like the style on you. So many dresses end up looking completely different from the pictures once you try them on.

If it has boning and built in cups, with the corset back and straps it should provide plenty of support. I'm a DD also. My corset back goes a smidge higher, but the girls are high and tight in it.

Daughter's dress has a relatively similar silhouette and she's a DD. Honestly? It took a lot to get to the point where she feels "secure" in her dress. We tried EVERY possible option of cups, sticky bras, etc. By themselves, nothing really worked for her. (And, she's fairly young and "perky," but felt like "the girls" weren't up where she wanted them.) Her dress has a lot of boning and support. Ultimately, $400 later in alterations to the bodice, she's pretty happy, but it wasn't as easy as we thought it would be. She ended up with 3 alterations appointments, and the last one took 90+ minutes while they kept making small adjustments. If you generally feel more comfortable in a supportive bra, I'd at least try on dresses that will accommodate that before you decide on a backless dress. Daughter's dress is gorgeous and she looks amazing in it, but it was challenging to get everything to work the way she wanted it to. Good luck!

It's a gorgeous dress. I think Erias has a great idea of trying on a similar dress, but you are right for that price you could just sell it to get some of your money...if not all..back. I wish I was 6ft tall. I am 4'11 with a large chest. I was worried about finding the right dress to hold the girls, but ended up not having too much trouble once I knew what to look for. I had really wanted a dress with a low back, but they were not going to work since I would not be supported. Good luck!

I love that dress. I'm a DDD and will be getting cups sewn into mine. I couldn't find a bra that worked and I 100% do not trust adhesive bras. Gravity is a thing lol. That's a I need is to have the adhesive give way. No thank you.

Thanks yall for the recommendations! I ended up getting a totally different dress. I got a sample dress of the Maggie Sottero "Emma" which I love and I think will be more supportive!
