Wedding dress dilemma

Kesha, on January 11, 2020 at 3:44 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 7
I am in the midst of a dilemma, I believe my wedding day should be exactly what I want it to be right down to my dress. I fell in love with a custom dress that costs a little over $5,000. My heart is saying go for it, but my mind is saying you will never wear it again be practical... can you put a price on wedding day happiness? How much is to much to pay for a wedding dress?

Too much for a dress is any amount that is outside of your budget. Can you afford a 5k dress and still have the rest of the aspects of your wedding you want? Personally I never would have spent that much money on my wedding dress but I know people who have. My dress just wasn’t something that was important to me and a 5k dress would have been 20% of our budget.

Only you can know if that dress is within your means and still allows you to have the wedding you want. I know peow who have spent over that on two dresses. But I had other things that I didn't want to settle on, like flowers, so I ended up going with a less expensive dress to keep costs down. You have to decide how much not having your dream dress is going to affect you. If it'll always be a regret, then take that into consideration too. This is an emotional time that we try to make logical, but some decisions are more emotional than others.

Depends on your budget but being realistic you may not get everything for your wedding mostly due to cost. Don't let those things horribly stress you. I guarantee you can find a dress just as beautiful for less. Check the website or other stores for look a likes for cheaper.

See if you can find a gown you love equally.
I fell in love with a $6500 lilac and peach Hailey Page gown- NOT ok for my budget- but, dang was it stunning!!! Lilac- grandfather fav colour and peach- grandmother fav colour... as they are not with us made it even more special....

That said I took my mom, 21yo son & aunt to look at dresses and my son picked the one I fell in love with!
The funny thing is there’s sooooo many pretty ones out there that you might fall hard for one of the others too!
If you can afford to do the $5k dress and still have the other items you want for the wedding- go for it!

Just take into mind that your alteration cost will be $250-1000. I bought my dress on sale, off the rack for a great price. My alterations are costing twice as much as I paid for my dress!

I think this is when knowing your budget is important. Is it unlimited? Then I guess you can do whatever you want. For us, we have the money we have and that's the end. I can pay for little things from my salary along the way, but didn't want the wedding to greatly affect my everyday life or put anybody into debt... Yuck! But if you have the money and it's something that matters to you, you're a free woman and you can do as you like! If it makes you nervous to spend the money, maybe keep looking and see if you can't get that feeling about a dress with a smaller price tag. Wedding dresses are soooo beautiful, it's easy to love them.
