Wedding Dress- cups sewn in - Big bustet

Trish, on March 27, 2017 at 6:46 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 12

Have any big busted women had cups sewn into their gowns. How did it work the day of the wedding? I am not sure if I should have the cups sewn in or try and find a really good strapless bra. Pictures of gown attached front and back (the picture is not me). I am a 40 DDD cup.

If you're a DDD I wouldn't think you would need cups built in! But it's best to ask your seamstress and see. All depends on what you are comfortable with and how the dress sits.

My dress is a very deep sweetheart neckline and they originally out cups in mine, but I took them out because I liked the look without the girls popping out. I'm only a C cup though, but still!

I'm a DDD as well and I got a really good bra from a store called torrid and my dress looks great with it and fits like a glove

Chelsea, thanks. I will need either cups built in or a good bra. My boobs just sag in the dress without something.

Monique, I have a torrid around the corner. I will look there.

    Thanks

My seamstress carries undergarments and cups so I was able to try on and compare cups vs. a longline bra. I'm a D cup so not as big, but I preferred the look of the cups. The bra pushed me up TOO much and gave me the dreaded armpit fat (my dress is a strapless sweetheart neckline). I'd say talk to your seamstress and see if you can do a comparison to see what's the most comfortable for you before you have anything sewn in.

How much support do you need? Does your dress provide any support?

I'm closer to an E cup and was told they don't have cups in my size Smiley sad I was able to get away with a strapless backless sticky bra though because my dress had a rigid bodice that provided a lot of support.

Have your seamstress tell you what you should do. Express your concerns, they're the expert.

Putting cups in my dress for alterations didnt work at all first round of alteratons (im a 36 DD) so ended up just getting a really nice boustier at Dillards.

I used to do bridal alterations, (still do on the side, just had to leave it for a job with benefits), so here is my two cents, for what it's worth....

A standard bra lifts the boobs by slinging them from the shoulders with straps.

A longline bra / bustier hoists the boobs up & supports them from the waist/hips with the help of boning.

A bandeau style strapless bra somewhat holds the boobs in place by pulling them in towards the body very tightly. (I'm not a fan of this style.)

****But there is nothing about a couple foam circles that would cause boobs to defy gravity. They are just filler. For smaller chests, cups can SORT OF create a little shelf in there for the girls rest on, with the help of whatever support might already be built into the dress.

I definitely recommend a good strapless bra, the kind that comes down to your waist or hips, to support the girls from below. Smiley smile Check with your seamstress for advice on bra style tips based on the style of your dress (low back? halter option? stuff like that).

Cups aren't going to hold you up, they're just going to give an outward shape to the dress and also make you appear larger up to. Could you're seamstress add some internal work like boning? If not, I'd go with the strapless bra.

I am a DD and I tried that exact dress. The seamstress was going to just sew in cups with a little padding for a lift. You shouldn't need to wear a bra if you are having the gown altered correctly to fit your bust.

Cups basically just provide a nice rounded shape and keep your nips from showing if you get cold.

I'm a 34 DDD/E and I had cups sewn in! It's strapless and has a lot of boning, so I feel totally supported in it.
