Ok, so, long story short, im going to make short sentences spaced out to make this as easy as possible.

I ordered my dress in the size the bridal shop said I measured into.

It was a little tight under the bust when I got it.

I have been losing weight, but was afraid to take the chance of it not fitting, so I had my seamstress put a corset in.

I just picked it up Thursday, and havent been able to have the dress 'properly laced up' with 2 people helping to see how it will truly look.
The pic above is the best I can get it for now.

My seamstress told me Thursday if i continue losing weight that the corset is going to "overlap" or basically just make it useless.

She can put a zipper and buttons back in, but I don't want to do that until I'm POSITIVE it will fit well without having to squeeze me into it.

The problem Is, i think i hate the corset. I didn't realize how much I liked the back until it was gone.

What do y'all think? Does the corset look ok? Am I over analyzing this?

All my friends keep saying the corset looks great, but I feel like they're just trying to be nice.

I agree with Jessica. Also, I have a corset back dress, but it's more simple and less busy. I've honestly never seen one like yours. I love your buttons. So classic and lovely with your gown. Mine is similar to this photo, but without the hole at the bottom.

Personally I prefer the look with the buttons. The corset does changes the style of the dress a lot. I think you have sometime still to get to the weight you desire and still keep it with the buttons. I personally wouldn’t do any work on it anymore and just take it back around 6 weeks before the wedding.

I prefer the buttons as well, I think if you like the look of the buttons better than you should have her switch it back!

Buttons or a plain hidden zipper are my preference. I like a visually cleaner look that corsets don’t give me.

They both would look beautiful, The buttons are very classy and elegant, whereas the corset may be more functional with weight loss.

Honestly the buttons look way better, more classic looking than the corset. I feel like the dress loses the beauty with the corset.

I think both look great. The corset would look better if it weren't coming together so much instead of creating a V

The corset looks good, but the buttons look so pretty! My dress has a corset back, which I love, but on your dress, I like the buttons better. Your dress will look great either way, though!

I would go with the buttons!

Personally, I don't think your seamstress did a great job with the corset back on your dress. The dress Victorian Bride posted looks much 'cleaner' than what your seamstress created--maybe she made the loops the laces go through a bit too big? I think it loses some of its elegance.

Right. I agree with this. The in-and-out wavy look is what makes it fall flat.

Personally, I feel as if the buttons offer more classic, timeless, and elegant look! I will always favor buttons over corset, although corsets are pretty 🤷🏻‍♀️
