Wedding Dress amongst covid

Lauren, on May 19, 2020 at 11:07 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 9

So I bought and ordered my dress March 17th before they shut down the store due to COVID. They are now reopen again but I am wondering a couple things that you ladies may know. Do they tell you when they get your dress in? How many alterations do you usually need to book and how soon to your wedding?

I ordered dress in September and was told it would take about 6 months. It came in right after Christmas. My wedding was scheduled for May 9 and they so-called to schedule in February. My second fitting was scheduled for early April. I’m sure there would have been a third and final right a bit before wedding. Then they would steam it for pick up.

I’ve been advised to start alteration 2 months before wedding and most likely 3 fittings. She called when my dress arrived and I’ve been in to try it on and see it again! She keeps it at the store while we wait to start alterations.

I ordered my dress in January and was told it will take anywhere from 8-10 months to arrive before COVID lol. Since it's custom made to my measurements I will alter it a month before the wedding in case I lose any weight.

My bridal boutique called me when my dress arrived. However, that should have been something they went over with you when you ordered your dress. I got married in October and had my first alterations in August. I went back a total of 3 times, including my final 2 week fitting.

They will normally call you when the dress comes in, and fittings should be as close to the wedding as is reasonably possible to control for any weight changes. The seamstress you work with will probably have a typical schedule they follow.

That's comforting. Thank you. I just feel antsy with having bought my dress a little over 6months pre wedding date and then COVID shutdown happened that night. I will just breathe and have a plan B for the dress just like I do the wedding Smiley smile
