Wedding decor set up

N, on September 20, 2019 at 2:41 PM Posted in Planning 0 4
I got a DOC and our wedding will be smaller-ish (about 60) but it’s a destination wedding at a resort and our reception will be in a different location than the ceremony (but still in the same resort). Do I need to make sure I designate family members to help the DOC? I’m struggling with that she’ll be able to do everything (even if she does bring an assistant). The venue is saying you have 3 hours before to set up—that seems like an impossible task to me. How has this worked out for other brides? any pre-planning tips you did?

I hired a doc who had an assistant and he had 1.5 hours to set mine up. It depends on what you have to set up ya know? If it's just centerpieces and a sign in table it should be ok. Are there other decorations and tables you'd need them to set up?

I guess it depends on how much you have to set up and you need to make sure your DOC knows that. We had a destination wedding and had a DOC but I assigned a few family members to help support her and make sure things were set up the way I wanted it so I did not have to worry about it the day of the wedding. I would say if you have a few volunteers it would not hurt to have them available and would likely give you peace of mind

I would discuss the time frame for decorating with your DOC and ask her if she thinks she'd need more hands to get it done during that time. I'm not sure how intricate your decorations are, but I don't anticipate any more than an hour or so to decorate and that would be me, my DOC, my bridal party of 3, and probably my mom as well.

Hey Nicole! Have you discussed the workload with your DOC? You must remember that they are doing this as part of their every day job so they will be totally aware of how much work is involved. Will she definitely have an assistant?

If it is something that you are worried about, perhaps ask will she need additional help from some willing family members or the bridal party?

Also, you should discuss with her if there is anything that can be done in the days before your wedding to save as much time as possible.
