Just Said Yes September 2020

Wedding date

Veronica, on October 9, 2019 at 12:13 PM Posted in Planning 0 10

Hello! We can't decide between two dates. We are planning our wedding just south of the twin cities and our options are Sep. 5th and Oct. 17. We are thinking light blue for our color and we do want a bon fire with some games outside plus fall colors. I am worried the Oct. 17th might be too cold for outdoor fun but the colors would be way better. I was hoping for the beautiful fall colors. Need advise!

I think light blue is fine for a September wedding (or any wedding for that matter). It sounds like September suits your vision better, I would go with September.

I think light blue works better for September actually. I'd go with that!

I think light blue is fine for either date. The only thing I worried be concerned about is that September 5th of 2020 is Labor Day weekend. Sometimes folks go on vacation and what not. But I am from the Midwest so I totally understand your concerns about the weather!

I would pick September for the weather so people can enjoy the games and outdoors. That being said, it's labor day and I think you will have less turnout- especially if you aren't getting save the dates out soon. People book things for holidays really early.

Our date is September 5th 2020 and although the fall colors would be popping much more in October, the weather is warmer in September if you're planning to do anything outside. As far as attendance, it really all depends on your family too. I have one that's local for the most part and won't be going away for the weekend. If you send your save the dates out soon I don't see an issue with attendance. The people that really matter would move mountains to be there regardless of their plans.

I grew up in the Twin Cities, and I get what you're saying about October 17th potentially being too cold, but on the flip side, September 5th could still be really hot and humid! This is just a personal preference lol, but I absolutely hate the heat and would 100% pick October (again, that's just me Smiley laugh ) If you're looking for that picturesque fall wedding with the trees all super pretty, October is probably the better month for that.

To piggyback on that, I think if you want a bonfire (them things are HOT) you probably want October. September is a holiday weekend and usually feels just like August.

I've been to weddings Labor Day weekend before! I really enjoyed it because I still had two more days of weekend after! I would just send out save the dates a little earlier so guests are fully aware of the date when planning for the long weekend comes around!

The color sounds beautiful. Maybe you can add a nice burnt orange color to make it seem more fall-like. I agree with Anna about it being labor day weekend, I only didn't go with that weekend because I have 3 other weddings and one is near Thanksgiving and the other is Memorial day, so having mine be Labor Day weekend would take away everyone's 3 day weekends for the year haha. Sending out the save the dates soon helps people plan for their year ahead of time.

If you choose October and if you're going to do outside activities you can just let people know to bring a coat. I've been to weddings where it was outdoors in late October but no one was told about the weather, so most of us crowded around the heaters except for those that had the foresight to bring coats or sweaters. You also have less chance of bugs in colder weather Smiley smile
