Wedding Date tattoo instead of band?

Gab, on January 24, 2020 at 8:01 PM Posted in Community Conversations 1 15

Hi!

I love love my engagment ring and the type of band I want to pair with it, is out of our range at the moment. We were thinking that he would get a band now for the wedding, I of course wear the engegamnt ring and during our mini-moon, I would get our date tattoo on the back of my ring finger. Does this sound crazy or will I regret it? What are your experieces?

I have a friend I went to college with who has her wedding date circling her ring finger like an actual ring similar to this

They don’t last long looking pretty as our fingers change size depending on the weather and our diets, it’s a cute idea, but the longevity of it might not be the greatest

Agree with Maggie. Finger tats are paiiiinful and the usually don’t last the longest.

It is a cute idea though. I love tattoos and am all for them. Definitely do it if that is what you want though!
My band is a bit pricey so I’m doing a silicone one until after the honeymoon

I personally wouldn't tattoo anything like that on my body. What happens if worst case scenario happens and you divorce? Then you'd have a permanent reminder for the rest of your life.

Sure....Get it! Even if it fades, it’s still meaningful and you can always get it retouched. I have a tattoo on my foot some people said it was going to fade. But it hasn’t and it’s 10 years old.

I thought about doing the same tattoo but didn’t want it hidden under my rings. So I was going to get “10.10.20” along the length of my ring finger instead.

I wouldn't do this. I have so many clients that have gotten new tattoos to cover up their exes names.

I personally would never tattoo anything like that on my body. I love my FH more than anything, and have tattoos already, but nope. You never know what will happen in life, and I wouldn’t risk having a permanent marking like that. Hand tattoos also fade the fastest, since our hands are always exposed and rub against things all day. Do what you feel is best for your body, but for me, it’s a no.

I’d be scared a tattoo of referring to anyone else = divorce! Just seems like a “Murphy’s Law” thing. 😝

My husband and I considered it but ultimately we didn't because tattoos on the hands will fade far easier and faster

I think a very cheap band would be preferable to a tattoo. Think about the worst case scenario before you make a tattoo decision. You may want to take off your ring one day, due to divorce or being widowed, and you can't just slip off a tattoo ring

I wouldn't tattoo a name but a date or symbol, sure why not? How is that less meaningful than a tattoo elsewhere on your body to commemorate a milestone?
Everyone has their own pain tolerance so what one person couldn't handle, you may not even notice. With proper care, a tattoo won't fade.

I agree! I feel pretty confident that we won't get divorced, but even if we do or he dies, our wedding date will always represent a significant moment in my life.
