Wedding Dance with only 15-20 guests?

Abby, on August 29, 2019 at 1:43 AM Posted in Wedding Reception 0 13
My FH and I are having a destination wedding in Florida on the gulf of Mexico, we will be having a afternoon reception with a catered meal and a cake cutting ceremony. Our venue has professional stereo equipment and is set up to use with an iPod. Was wondering is it even worth having a dance with so few guests? We could only bring 20 people max with our wedding package so only parents, grandparents, siblings and their Significant others were invited

I don’t think you need to have a certain number of people to have dancing at your reception. Whether or not others participate depends on your crowd.

It's your dance... the amount of guests shouldn't matter of that's what you want to do. Smiley smile

I absolutely think you should do it. The number of people doesn’t matter.

If you are thinking that maybe only have 15 people dancing would be awkward maybe see if there is a dance studio nearby your venue. Sometimes the instructors offer group dance lessons at weddings. That way it is more like an activity and feature at your wedding.

You definitely don't need a certain number of people to have some dancing at your wedding.

I would have a first dance and then ask everyone to pair up and dance a dance with you.

I guess only you know if they’re party people or not. My engagement party was small (about 35) and we had a DJ and we danced all night long. Probably about 15 to 20 people were dancing at all time but then my group are all dancers.

It *may* be tough to get people to dance with an iPod (usually a band or DJ is needed to “up” the vibe). But certainly you can have a first dance, parents dance, and then invite guests to join you. They may and then the dancing might taper off, or perhaps they’ll keep the dance party going. 🎉

That's plenty. There was a point in my wedding where people were too timid to dance so there were only like three people on the dance floor aha eventually it filled though.

We had 30 people including us and did a first dance and then had dancing and most of our guests joined in. My first wedding we had a reception in a private room for 16 at a restaurant and my ex fil wrote and played a song for us to dance to. So yes you can do it.
