Wedding colors

Hello! I’m trying to figure out wedding colors. My fiancé wants black (which I’m cool with) and I’m between lilac/ lavender or wine red (we live in Napa, Ca). Would all 3 go together? Here are pics for reference Wedding colors 1

I'd say black and wine red especially since y'all live in Napa, Ca. (I'm a little corny and I love red). I don't know how you could work lilac/ lavender in with wine red but anything is possible.

I think you could make all three work together. I’m personally a fan of color schemes with range and balance so adding in some gray may help balance the darker, richer colors with the lavender

Since your wedding is in the Fall, I would go with the deep wine color. If you are wanting to add a soft color to the pallet, light pink/blush looks really beautiful. You could also do gold or rose gold accents.

I think if you’re careful you could do all three but I would go with black and the deep red personally

You could choose to do lilac flowers on the table or lilac colored napkins or something. That way you can add it in but not overdo it so it doesn’t seem like too much. I personally would stick with the other two colors for attire though

So my fiancé thinks black and wine red would be too dark so I definitely need to add in a lighter color!

Even though you’re getting married in the fall? I’m getting married in October so my fiancé is wearing a dark burgundy suit and my bridesmaids are wearing a deep terra-cotta color. Also what do you want? Because he picked black so you should have the right to pick the other color. There’s two of you with different styles so you’re not going to see eye to eye on everything but it is both of your wedding so there should be compromise. Just my thought on it

I agree. We settled on black and lilac so we might stick with that and add in blush or gold. We don’t care about sticking to certain colors to match the season.

Just be aware that flowers may be more expensive for colors that are "out of season". When my brother got married in the fall (October) his wife chose lilac and light green as their colors and their flower budget almost doubled because they were out of season colors.

    Just something to think about.

It might be helpful to google flowers that are in season in September to help with color choices! You can definitely still do a lighter colored purple. I did a cursory search and came up with the below flowers that are in bloom in September in a lighter purple color. September is kind of between seasons, its not quite summer anymore but not yet fall, so you should have a good amount of options. Especially for accent colors. For instance, sunflowers are still in bloom in early September and can add a lighter, sunnier pop. Where as zinnias and dahlias can come in beautiful deep jewel tones that can add depth. And mums to me have always encompassed "fall".

Seasonal flowers will almost always save you some cash. Some flowers, regardless of the seasons, are going to be more expensive, but not having to have certain flowers shipped from another part of the country, or in some cases world, will definitely cut down on spending costs if that's a concern. My mother was a florist and her suggestion has always been, no matter when you get married, use seasonal flowers. You won't have supply concerns with seasonal flowers the way you might with others.
