Wedding Ceremony Location Just Backed Out - What should I do?!

Natalie, on August 4, 2021 at 4:14 PM Posted in Illinois Planning 0 5

Hey all!

Super crazy morning.....I got a call from the church we were planning on having our wedding ceremony at and they "no longer can accommodate our wedding". We have been in conversation with them since the beginning on the summer, however hadn't been given a contract to sign or way to pay any kind of deposit. Then it feels like all of a sudden they just can't and I have just ordered the invitations and save the dates which I cannot get refunded for. I'm flustered and upset as well as all around confused. My wedding isn't until May 1st, 2022 so we will be able to print new ones with a corrected location, but now I am back on the hunt for a church which is important to both me and my fiancé. I have called no less than 50 churches today and only had 1 respond back that they are available.

Does anyone have a good recommendation of a non-denominational church that does not require you to be members or regular attendees to get married in near Wheaton or Naperville, IL area? If so please let me know in the comments! I feel like I'm going nuts.

Are you super set on getting married in a church? Can you get married at your reception location?

Yeah a ceremony in a church is something both my fiance and I are really set on, but if all else fails we might do that.

Good luck, I hope you can find something. I'm in the area but do not attend church or know of any. Smiley sad

Have you checked with your pastor/minister to see if he has any connection with other pastors in the area you want your wedding in?
Since many churches aren’t actual commercial wedding venues, but have weddings for their own church community, if your pastor gives a referral that might work.

Hi Natalie. I hope you were able to find a new location. If not, let me know and I will see if I could come up with anything.
