Fake. My baker posted tons of examples of her cakes and the one I selected uses fake. She’s handling it all so I don’t have to purchase the flowers separately. I did see some gorgeous cake toppers on Etsy that I was going to order if needed.

We used real, and our baker coordinated with our florist. We liked the look of real, and the cost of having the baker add sugar flowers would have been well over double the cost of real flowers

We had royal icing flowers that came out really pretty, and they were edible!

You can’t always beat the look of real flowers. I prefer them over fake. That being said, keep in mind that you don’t know what has been put on those flowers. Pesticides and special shine sprays. Also I once put flowers on a cake that kept shedding little floral pieces all over the cake.

This is the cake but the baker doing my cake can't find purple flowers. Trying to find something like these.

I say fake the reason being no one is gonna know, and you don't know what type of things the flowers have and you don't want little pieces of flowers on the cake

We're using real. Our florist will provide them and our baker will arrange them on the cake

As a person who decorates cakes, including wedding cakes, I vote fake. Keeping the real ones looking fresh for as long as they will need to be out can be a challenge, and not all flowers are safe to be consumed, so you don't want them touching the buttercream, or whatever the outer layer of your cake is. A good bakery will have amazing fake flowers to make a beautiful cake.

I prefer the look of real flowers. Unless they fall into the poisonous category in which case fake or sugar would be the way to go, most are safe to use on the cake.
