I'm 11 days out from my wedding (getting married 9/7), and we're getting married in Seattle while living in Chicago. I travel to Seattle often for work (it's also where we met), so I decided to pop by our Seattle-based jeweler to pick up my custom wedding band today instead of having them ship it to Chicago like they had initially planned.
Welp, glad I did. When I showed up today, the band was white gold. My engagement ring is yellow gold. Rut-roh! The made the ring in the wrong color!! It was also close to a quarter size too big. The ring is an eternity band of diamonds, so reshaping isn't the easiest task.
We've been working with the same person through the whole process - engagement ring through now, so she is well aware of what the ring was supposed to look like. We took the ring out of the box today, and she immediately had a look of sheer terror on her face. She immediately spotted the issue with the color. I felt awful for her as she clearly scrambled in her mind to figure out how to correct the error in a week.
I assured her that it wasn't a big deal - that they would fix it if they could...but if not, I'd just use another band for the ceremony. Honestly, if the worst issue we run into between now and the wedding is having to use a fake band, we're such lucky people! Still, she was determined to make it right in time for the wedding.
Later this evening, I received an email from her stating that they'll be able to remake the ring correctly by this Friday. I'll be back in Chicago, but when we land next week, I'll bring in my engagement ring to ensure everything looks and fits perfectly between the two and for a last-minute engagement ring cleaning before our big day.
I'm SO thrilled that they'll be able to turn around my ring in time! But man, what a day! Thought you ladies would appreciate some drama with a good ending while going through your planning processes!
