    Hi there:

Is that normally a rainy time for your venue area?

How many people are you planning to host?

    What is your parking plan?

Are you having a ⛺️and/or putting flooring down?

I would rent heaters unless it’s normally warm where you live in November. I’d also rent a bathroom trailer. Check into local noise ordinances as well to make sure that the time you’re having the party won’t be an issue.

As others have mentioned, the first thing I'd do is a ton of research. Reading past posts about backyard weddings is a great place to start. Then I'd brainstorm a list of everything you'll need to supply, and start calling around for estimates so you have realistic total, and then see how that matches up with your budget. I've been on this forum for almost two years now, and one constant is that a backyard wedding is almost never a way to save money. Frequently, couples who do it realize it would have been cheaper to have the wedding at a venue AND it is MUCH more work. So having a backyard wedding is probably best if doing so is truly a labor of love because the location means so much to the couple, not because you think it will be cheaper and/or easier.

What about a venue that has an outside ceremony and/or reception space?

My FH's friend recently had hers in the backyard and it turned out lovely. She did yellow and blue decor and it was very pretty.

For her ceremony portion she had an area for the wedding arch which was decorated in yellow flowers and she had white chairs for her guest. The outer chairs by the aisle had yellow bows. For the reception guest sat under the tent. She had some tables with blue table cloths and others with yellow and simple vase center pieces. I found this picture on google just to give you a visual of what I'm talking about.

Definitely check out noise ordinances — the last thing you want is cops showing up and shutting down your wedding! We had a backyard wedding and our town says no amplified sounds after 10pm, so we made sure to have the DJ pack it up by then. ...also we invited all the neighbors to reduce the risk of complaints 🤣

The ultimate BEST backyard wedding advice I can give is: HIRE EXPERIENCED PROS. My full
service caterers ran the show. Because of them I got to actually enjoy my wedding. Without them, everything would’ve fallen on *me* which would’ve been awful on a day when you’re in the spotlight and all your nearest and dearest want to spend time with you. So to have anyone that can take that pressure off you is a game changer.

The OTHER big advice is to have a back up plan for ALL contingencies that come with the outdoors: rain, wind, cold, heat, BUGS, darkness, damp ground — we rented industrial fans, string lights, pre-treated the lawn for bugs, and had bug spray and flip flops on hand in case someone needed them. Try to think of everything that could go wrong, and make a plan for solving it. Im sure we went overboard but it’s not possible to be over prepared— only under prepared.

They can be great! Make sure you plan just as much as someone would for any other venue. Get catered food, even if it’s trays of food from Vallarta, I know you said Mexican decor. You could do bomb pan dulce instead of cake/cupcakes or in addition too. You can have angus frescas and many fun things. Decor will be easy, pretty bright colors. How many people total?
One thing to be aware of is restrictions on curfew for the area, you don’t want to cops coming to shut down your wedding.

Splurge on catering and maybe rent a tent! Hanging up string lights help give a magical feel Smiley smile
