I got my quote back for dress alterations and it’s $1200! Yes you read that right. The dress is 4 sizes too big and needs a bustle and hem. Is it just me or is that WAY too much? I’m taking it to another seamstress for a second opinion. I’m so stressed out because the wedding is in 3 months. Do you...

I bet its the lace, they will have to make sure the way they alter it has the lace and illusion neckline laying just right otherwise the dress won't look right!

That's definitely hefty! I am paying $395 and I need everything you do (including the amount taken in) plus some!

That seems outrageous, but really it would depend on the dress. If I had to take mine down that much, the entire dress would have to be deconstructed, recut, and put back together like humpty dumpty- seams, zipper, boning, skirtand all. Really it might just be that your dress requires a lot of work qnd it matches the price. Good call on the second quote though!
