Wedding Album Cost

Kimberly, on April 29, 2016 at 6:53 PM Posted in Planning 0 13

I REALLY want a professional wedding album. I know you can get one so much cheaper by DIY'ing it, but I really feel that, for me, a high quality album from the photographer is something I dont want to pass up.

What I am wondering from all of you, do you think $1600 for a large pro album, with all retouched photos, is too expensive? This is the cost to add an album on with my photographer. Keep in mind, I live in the DC metro area which is generally more expensive then most areas to begin with. If you got a pro album, around how much did you pay, or would you expect to pay if you were to order one from your photographer?

Holy cow! In my opinion that is an outrageous cost for a wedding album. But as I have said many a time on WW...to each his own. If you have the money and that is how you would like to spend it, why not?

We are definitely not doing a pro wedding album. Planning on making a collage to put on our wall so that we can see the pics all the time.

$1,600 would buy you a really, REALLY nice album from me. I'm glad to see someone appreciates that you get what you paid for. I'm amazed at the number of people who will settle for a cheap $50, press printed album and laugh at the idea of spending $1k on something that your great grandkids will appreciate.

Here are three important tips for you:

    1. Get your prospective photographers price lists BEFORE you sign your contract and pay your deposit. Don't be lured in by low prices and then be shocked when they hand you your bill. Its very dishonest to do this, IMHO, but it happens. Honesty is the best policy, or at least my business policy.

    2. Understand their pricing structure. Some will charge more money larger prints prints that go into your album. This isn't my style, but I'm going to stop short of calling the practice dishonest.

    3. Look for photographers that include print and album credits in their more expensive wedding collections or "packages." My top collection includes a $1,000 print and album credit.

    If you're curious, here's a

unique sample wedding album I just got back from my manufacturer. Something like this would run about $1,200 but again, all of my wedding collections include a print/album credit.

    HTH :-)

If you love their albums and cover options, print quality, and layout, then it's worth it. I've sold some $**** albums, leather heirloom with extra thick pages, 30 spread. Photographic cover or linen can be had for $700 and up with me depending on size and spread count. Just know what that buys and see a sample. Definitely a huge difference between that and a consumer grade album, and it's the one thing that remains after the day. Quality remains long after price is forgotten.

That's along the line of what my photog offers for a fairly large (15in square maybe) 40-pg album with lay-flat pages and a leather cover from my photog. I don't think its crazy, if its what you want. We're doing a linen cover and a slightly smaller size to save a bit of money, and I am so excited!

It depends on the style of the album (acrylic, etc.), the size and the number of pages. I'm in NYC and a vendor quoted me $900+ for a 20 page, 12x12 album.

That seems reasonable to me. We just got our album quote - $1300 for a leather bound 10x10 album. It's expensive to have photos printed well, on paper that will age well. (We are in the NYC metro area and our photographer works with Madera books, for reference).

ETA I did have sticker shock until I asked around with some recently married friends what it cost to have their albums done. I guess I was just uneducated in this department!

Wow, I thought $600 for the leather bound album my photographer was offering to put together was a lot. I personally couldn't afford that price. I feel bad that I don't have any pictures printed and it has been almost a year!

That's about what ours costs. We haven't received the album yet, because we waited a while before choosing the pics. I think it's worth it, especially after spending $$ on a pro photog.

The one our photographer offered was around $600, so that price sounds a little outrageous to me. But, you do say it's one thing that is very important to you and I don't know your budget or financial capabilities. Can you cut back in other areas so you don't feel so bad about splurging on that?

I wish I could have a pro album. The studio that I ended up going with after my photographer bailed at the last minute uses a service to put their albums together which means I may as well do it myself. If it's too much to swing, perhaps you can talk to them about different album types so you can get the professional quality album you want? No low balling of course, just discussing all of your options.

That price sounds absurd and I personally would never pay it! It's completely up to you and your FH but that price seems pretty outrageous considering you can get a very nice album done online for less than $100 with the photos your photographer provides to you..that's what we'll be doing.

Our photographer charges us about an additional 1,000 so that doesn't seem crazy, but kind of high. It depends on the area and your budget - I agree with Lizzy, if this is important to you, then find other areas to save money (no favors, less decor, smaller flowers, etc)

There are a lot of companies that may create custom designed professional wedding photo album. Price depends on the cover type, format, aditional services like retoushing, editing etc. My friend ordered one from photographer on the wedding day and paid about 1300$, but the other one find a nice company, and make a gift for his wife on the anniversary for about 900$, almost the same quality and custom design. So, I think, high-quality wedding album should cost about 1000$, but not more than 1500$. I've seen realy creative albums like woodden, rustic, leather etc. and they're more expensive starting from 700$ but the're looking very rich and cool!
