Website wording for tricky travel details

Stacey, on March 3, 2018 at 10:56 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 3

We are getting married in a small tourist city during their busiest time of year. We want to use our website to let our guests know that traffic can be heavy, and to allow extra time for that & parking. How should I word that? Should I also include it in a details card in the formal invitation? Kind of a reminder of when/where it is taking place and the link to the wedding website for the rest of the details? Even though most of our guests live nearby, I am surprised at how many have never been to this city before. I'm just trying to make this is a easy as possible for them!

I would put a reminder on the website, and don't phrase it like "you'll know this, but it'll be busy plan for parking" instead more of a "There is a very busy place, and you may have trouble with parking, here are my recommended places". Basically don't act like you're reminding them how to be adults, but rather informing them of something they don't know.

You might also use a gentle... Hey guys... If anyone wants to carpool... Remember the best parking places are... Having lived in a small tourist town... Not everyone was aware of the best parking places.. So a small humorous reminder doesn't make anyone feel stupid.

I would definitely put it on the website. You can add it on its own page if you want too. We did that because people were confused about it being on the beach so we added a page with photos and stuff explaining it. Smiley smile To be helpful. Smiley smile
