Website- our story

Kara, on May 11, 2019 at 10:08 AM Posted in Planning 0 19
I have no idea how to even start writing our story on our website! Do I do it from my perspective or his or both?! If you have any examples or want to share what you wrote, I'd greatly appreciate it

I wrote ours from our shared prospective, especially our first impressions of one another.

Thank you, I was thinking of doing ours in a third person style. However, there is a lot of our relationship that can't or should not be shared. It's hard to know what details to share, even the timeline of when we met, most people don't really know :/

We wrote ours from a kind of third person perspective:

Our story starts with a hurricane in August 2011. We were both college freshmen trapped in our red brick dorm, making friends under the emergency lights. That storm brought us into two amazing groups of friends that soon overlapped and bonded to an obscene degree. Still, it took a year before we would actually meet (not counting the time Katherine interviewed Chris about a "firecracker incident" for The Daily Campus and completely failed to realize who he was #LoisLaneLevelJournalism)

One year after that storm, the two friends groups fully merged into one. We met just before the start of classes in August 2012 over a game of cards and Truth or Dare. Our friendship grew through movie nights, board games, Ultimate Frisbee, dining hall dinners, and too many late-night orders from Wings Over Storrs. Friendship turned into a crush and something even better bloomed after our first date (baking apple pie and watching Resident Evil).

Six years later, we’ve traveled across North America together. We've marveled at the massive ice formations of Niagara Falls, snorkeled over coral reefs in Belize, and hiked the golden hills of California. We've soaked in the beauty of Yosemite, made friends with prawns on a fishing boat in Alaska, and sledded down the largest sand dunes in North America. We’ve driven over 3,100 miles across the country and hundreds more across the great western expanse in search of adventure.

Our next great adventure started when Chris kidnapped Katherine for a surprise trip to Glenwood Springs, CO. The evening of our first night we climbed to a crystal green lake perched on the edge of a cliff. Tucked off in a corner, away from the crowd (with an audience of a curious squirrel) Chris got down on one knee and asked Katherine to marry him. Unsurprisingly, she said yes!

I've seen them done two ways: joint and his and her story. I like his and her story because it's funny to read each person's perspective on the events of their first encounters.

I wrote it from my perspective since it was obvious that I was the one creating the website.

We met on eHarmony. (Romantic, right?) I was the first to reach out, which I very rarely did when using online dating sites. Something about Nate's profile really stuck out to me, (It was probably the picture of Jackson. I'm a sucker for cute pups!) so I emailed him on April 13, 2017. Nate was apparently not nearly as impressed with my profile as I was with his since it took him over 6 weeks to reply! (He claims it had something to do with not having a full membership and not being able to read my message...uh huh...). He finally responded on May 29, 2017. I surprisingly forgave him for his tardiness, we emailed back and forth a few times, and then started texting. We had our first date on June 3, 2017 at Cru Wine Bar followed by our second date the very next day. From there, the rest is history!

I just plan on deleting the page. Registry, RSVP, maybe a wedding party intro is all they get.

I would do it from yours, and if he likes the idea he can do it from his!

I think I’ll do a quick “little me” to the meeting of him, then what the last 7yrs has been like in my pov.
And ask him to do the same.

I haven't done mine yet because I feel uncomfortable writing about myself (I might have my bridesman do it!) but my FSIL did hers in third person, as in someone else talking about the two of them.

This was something that was unnecessary for me. With how little guests actually look at the website it wasn't a priority to write this all up. Our friends and family know how we met. They don't need every single detail in our minds.
