Wearing my dress to a bar after the ceremony?!

Domnick, on November 28, 2021 at 1:49 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 1 21
Hello brides!
So my fiancé and I will be eloping in our living room and plan on going out to a brewery/bar afterwards. I have 3 bridesmaids who are wearing somewhat fancy dresses and we’re wondering if we should change before going or should we just go in our dresses??

I’ve attached a picture of my dress (not going to wear a vail). It wasn’t too expensive so I’m not worried about if it gets dirty.Just worried about looking strange at a bar. I’d love any feedback! I was also thinking about wearing a jean/leather jacket over the dress at the bar.
Thanks ladies!!Wearing my dress to a bar after the ceremony?! 1

You really only get to wear your wedding dress once, so why not wear it out to the bar? I say go for it! I plan on wearing mine if we end up going out after our reception.

I totally agree with Lisa! Rock it!!! I also think a jacket would be cute, if it's cold. I, for one, would be so excited to see a wedding party at a bar! Soak it up and get all the fun memories and pictures from the bar after your wedding! Congratulations!

I wore mine to the bar after our reception! Didn’t feel weird at all, my husband kept his tux on too. Didn’t buy our own drinks all night 😂Wearing my dress to a bar after the ceremony?! 2

The trend of switching to a second dress or jeans is a new thing from the various wedding shows to get brides to pay more than they already are. The period you wear the dress from getting ready until end of the reception is so short anyway that many brides stay in their one dress as long as they can. I personally have seen a surprising number of brides out on the town in bars, restaurants, etc full glam ball gowns and they don’t look out of place at all. Just make sure the dress is properly altered for whatever heel height you spend the majority of time in and that the train is bustle and you are good to go. Beyond that I would not worry about getting the dress dirty because many dresses end up filthy underneath from a regular indoor venue but it’s nothing a basic dry cleaning won’t fix, including walking over flower petals.

I say go for it! You literally only get to wear it once. And I think it would look cool with a jean jacket. Have fun & enjoy your day however you see fit. Don't worry about looking silly or what others think because it's your special day!

If you are comfortable in it and comfortable with getting some extra attention from strangers around you, no reason not to! But you will get attention . I wore my dress to the bar for our after party , I was so comfy in it I didn’t want to take it off!

I 100% agree with everyone else. You should definitely wear it to the bar and soak up every minute of your special day. We went to a local bar after our wedding and I wore my dress and didn’t feel weird at all. People loved it and kept coming up to us and ironically there was another bride there too.

DO IT! For my sister in law and brothers wedding we all stayed dressed up and when to some clubs and bars! All night long we were the life of the party everywhere we went, and she has an absolute blast. We’re doing it for our wedding, 1.1.22, as well!

Do it!!!! That way people can buy you and your husband drinks lol!! Slightly joking haha. But my husband's ex step-dad and his wife wore their outfits to the bar and everyone was congratulating them and buying them drinks for the night Smiley smile

If you aren't worried about your dress getting dirty, do it! I would recommend otherwise if your dress was really delicate, had a long train (which could be a possible hazard for you if it gets caught on something or stepped on by drunks), and was really expensive and at risk of getting damaged, but if you want to enjoy your dress, aren't worried about it getting stained or torn, and are only wearing it for a short period before, I think you should totally go bar hopping in it.

Don't worry about what others think. Have fun! Hopefully you'll get free drinks everywhere you go!
