Wearing Glasses

Susan, on August 21, 2019 at 2:24 PM Posted in Hair and Makeup 0 22

All, I don't have a choice and will be wearing my glasses for our wedding. I currently have green glasses, but want to get some that are not as overpowering. My question is, how do I do my make-up so that you see me and not my glasses? I am getting it professionally done, and this is a first for me, so nervous! Also, I'm growing my hair, so they can do something with it. LOL

Thanks for all you answers!

Susan

I also wear glasses and can’t wear contacts. You just bump up the color on your eyes, go slightly darker/bolder. Get some pretty frames that look bridal. I used to have this light gold pair with crystals on the edges( they broke Smiley sad ) but I remember thinking how bridal they looked.

I would suggest some clear frames! They would look great on you

Hi! I wore glasses too. I did find that clear frames helped my eye make-up POP!! I ended up doing my own make-up, so I am sure a make up artist will know what to do. Avoid wearing fake eyelashes IMO, as I feel they always flutter against the lenses. I would check out zenni.com for some frames, they have plenty of different styles you can try. I was going to do a different colored frame, but I honestly love how the clear frames look in the photos. I know for me, I had heavy top eye liner (brown) and did shades of gold, and blushes to accent my skin tone. The only thing I hated about my glasses, the area we took some photos in were hot and my glasses started to fog up, I had to take a break. LOL.

I was going to suggest clear frames too, they would look really nice on your face. I need mine to read so my son/best man will have them in his pocket. I am waiting till next year to get a new pair so I don't really want to spend the money this year since I only need them for a few minutes at a time during the ceremony and part of the reception. And like others said, go a little darker with you eye make-up, maybe add false lashes. Maybe add a little sparkle too.

I just got lasik this summer but before that I had glasses from before I ever started wearing makeup and I learned A LOT about doing makeup with glasses over that time. As others have said- dark and bold! Personally, the fake lashes never bothered me by touching the lenses but this will vary based on how close your frames sit and how long the lashes are. You can definitely go for a more dramatic look behind glasses and end up looking less dramatic because of your frames- the clear ones may solve that, though!

Honestly I love the green frames and red hair Smiley smile with neutral/ taupe makeup I think it would be really pretty. However warby Parker has clear and light colored prescription glasses for $95 if you want to switch it up!

I would say to go for a more dramatic eye makeup look. Here’s me with my glasses. I wont be wearing mine for the wedding but it’s good for reference.

I like my hair and glasses too, but wanted to go for a more subtle look. I've been looking online for cheap glasses. I am thinking a wire frame. I've seen the clear, but not sure they are for me. Thank you!

I also need to wear my glasses. I CAN wear contacts I guess but my eyes dry out super fast and they are so uncomfortable and I can't see as well. But my glasses ARE part of me. I've worn glasses since the first grade. It's super important for me to look and feel like myself for my wedding!

I found this shimmery color on Etsy and I love it!!! The best part is I can choose any color I want and add as little or as much of this over it for the ethereal look I'm going for.

I've worn glasses since high school, and I graduated in 1982! In the past I tried contacts several times. I had trouble with them, and I didn't look like myself. I've been thinking of getting new ones anyway, so I am seriously thinking of a thin metal frame, in a smaller size than I have now. It might be kind of fun to have a choice on which ones to wear each day.

Thanks for your support in wearing my glasses!
