Wear the dress in the ocean?

Rebecca, on May 1, 2020 at 4:10 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 7
We are getting married on a beach in Maui in November at Sunset with a reception to follow. Who has worn their dress in the water for pictures? How dirty did it get? Was the dress ruined? What if even just the hem got wet....did that then trash the dress?

I was running around in heels and a tulle dress. The dress was okay, no holes, dry cleaner made it clean again, but when I look very closely there are some area with sand stain. My dh can’t see it but our adult daughter can 🤣 If it’s not tulle, it would definitely be more visible, but I am sure if you tell the dry cleaner they will remove the stain. Also, depending on the dress, it could become incredibly heavy once it gets wet, and that could potentially be really dangerous. If you're talking about a single layer of a lightweight gauzy or cotton fabric, probably not too bad. But if you're considering this with a more traditional, multi-layered skirt with lace/tulle/lining, at the very least you're probably talking about a pretty hefty dry cleaning bill to get all the sand and salt out of the fabric.

Except the bride in the video wore a short, pretty light looking dress for the underwater ceremony and then changed into a different long dress for the on-land reception.
