We might have to reschedule, has anyone done that before?

Mikayla Ply, on February 1, 2015 at 12:12 AM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 8

So, we are doing a vow renewal in June (we said our vows and signed paperwork in November 2014 before he went over seas for a year so we are married, we never did a ceremony or reception) and we aren't sure if we should continue with it.

We are still going to talk about this and look at all the options and see what will happen but has anyone had to do this as well? Postponing the date for a year or two? Some advice is really appreciated..

Don't do something you cannot afford and don't go into debt over a vow renewal.

If you already have all of your personal effects and a venue, how much more is there to pay for? Food is expensive, but maybe consider having an un-catered event and ask family or friends to help pitch in. It seems unfair to your bridesmaids to cancel at this point. Ultimately, you know your situation better than any of us do, though. Good luck!

I have had to reschedule my wedding 3 times because of health issues. This time we bought a house and are rehabbing it and we decided to have the wedding in our back yard on October 3,2015. I canceled the venue and told my friends that their would not be a bridal party but they are all invited to the wedding. With that being said not a one of them had spent a any money on dresses or anything else. If your bridesmaids have purchased their dresses themselves it could lead to a difficult situation really fast. You and your husband are worth the memories that the party will bring. Good luck!!!!

Thank you Maggie Smiley smile my girls have their dresses, its the timing of the army that is causing this lovely bump in the road (-.-) plus the fact that we have almost everything done too. And thank you!!

I postponed a year- it was supposed to be in 2013, but then my grooms dad died and as it turned out, groom got laid off right after we made the decision to postpone.

turned out to be the best decision, if for no other reason I turned out to be horribly sick on my 'would have been' wedding day. for many, changing a date means eating a lot of deposts, but I was lucky. I just sent a email to the very relaxed venue, and they just changed the date on the calendar, and it was all very painless and the best thing.

only thing that turned out to be not so good, is that it gave me a year more to obsess over bridal gown designs where had I gone with original plan, the dress would have just been sewn up and done with. I'm a bit OCD, and the problems I had deciding were more than you would believe. my size changed a lot during the engagement since I fell off the wagon with a eating disorder (yes I am getting help) so that was hard too.

but that was all just one of those things because I am the way i am. other than my being obsessive over silly things, my date change went quite smoothly-

are you sure you need to change the date? if so much is done, would it be easier to just go with it?

@StitchingBride I'm hoping that we don't. He's is in the service and has training for a month close to the wedding date, we haven't heard anything about when he leaves so we are trying to figure out if its a good idea to just stay with things as they are or plan to postpone it..and I'm freaking out a little bit because of how much we have finished and if we have to postpone it for a year..I don't know where we are going to be by then (he might go over seas next year).

We just decided to move our wedding date to October 15, 2016 because of my health issues and rehabbing a house we just bought. My fiancé is worried about not having the camper out of the back yard in time for the wedding LOL. I was like good grief I didn't tell anyone about the October 2015 date yet so I just looked at him and grinned and said that I would move it to October 2016. Do you think the camper will be gone by then. He just smiled LOL
