We Got Our Marriage License !!!!

Chantelle, on May 21, 2019 at 10:36 AM Posted in Community Conversations 0 8

Hello Ladies ,

I'm somewhat new to this chat but i'm so excited that i have to talk about it . I'm getting married on 06/22/2019. Yesterday we got our marriage license and it feels so real now. I thought the process would take longer than it did. It lasted for 10 mins but it felt like forever lol I guess my nerves kicking in. I'm curious though we got our marriage license and Philadelphia and they asked a lot of personal questions. So did any of you get questions you were not expecting?

Wow you already got your marriage license? Where I live a marriage license expires after 30 days of getting it. Is that how it is where you live? They didn't ask personal questions other than who our parents were and whether or not he and I were related in some way. What type of personal questions did they ask, if you don't mind me asking?

    YAYY!! Congratulations!

I got mine in Butler County, Pennsylvania. Ours expires after 60 days of getting it. I am curious how different the process is in different counties?

I don't remember any personal questions during mine?

Yes!! Philadelphia their license expires in 60 days with a three day waiting period. No I definitely don't mind. They ask me for my occupation as well as my FH and Our Parents Occupation. Where everyone was born and if we had any health problems. The biggest question that throw me off was if we had any STD's (sorry for saying that). It was so weird.

I don't believe it's any different. Our expires in 60 days. Did they ask your occupation or our parents occupation ? Where they were born ? Where you were born ? If you and your spouse had any health problems or diseases ?

Gotcha! That makes sense! Oh I forgot they asked us our occupation as well. I didn't think anything of it. Its basically for the record keeping purposes. They didn't ask our parents occupation though. They kind of have to ask where everyone is born because like a birth certificate (where you were born and where your parents are born usually shows up on birth certificates) its just a part of the vital records they keep. Same with death certificates as well I believe. They asked you if you had any STD's?! Did they require a blood test too?! Or proof that you had a test that you testes negative for STD's? I am sorry but people can lie about that so I think its really odd for them to ask that question and then not ask for proof. Like what is the point of even asking?! Geez. I am sorry you had to endure that! That one would have thrown me for a loop too and I probably would have asked them what gives them the right that they think they can ask that question and what they will use that information for. -_-

Yess. They asked us all of the questions about our parents...I filled my application out online before we went so I forgot about those.

While we were at the office they asked us if we had any transmittable diseases and if we were on drugs.
