We finally decided on a venue! The Renaissance Faire!

Michelle, on May 5, 2020 at 10:42 AM Posted in Wedding Reception 0 5

My fiance and I have been engaged for almost a year now (June 28, 2019). I'm the type of person who loves to plan ahead, and make sure all my ducks are in a row. Because of this we agreed to have our wedding sometime in 2021. This way I can make sure we have everything ready, and we are financially ready to do it.

Well after much deliberating and looking at venues, my fiance and I are both in agreement. The Renaissance Faire would be perfect for us! We met through a game of D&D, and so this kind of geeky themed wedding seems perfect for us. Has anyone else ever been to, or are planning their wedding like this? Any tips for making sure it's not going to turn into a disaster?

If it is Texas Renaissance Faire or anything similar, they do really really good jobs making the day special for their brides and grooms. I wouldn’t worry at all about it being a disaster. I’ve seen owl ring bearers, brides in gorgeous capes, grooms in suits of armor, harpists play at weddings, Robin Hood and his merry men crash the wedding reception, wine and mead tastings as a reception alternative, etc. Figure out what ren-fest details would make you both happy and it will be amazing no matter what.

That sounds fun! I have heard of lots of people doing this with no issues.

    Congrats!

First, make sure the one near you does weddings. We love the NY one, which is the oldest, permanent one in the country - but they don't do weddings. (...This makes us very sad, but it's also always packed, so we understand why.)

Secondly, reach out RIGHT away, as others have said.

Third, make sure you require all weapons to be peace-tied - unless, like us, you DO want a swordfight at your wedding!

    Good luck!
