We attended a wedding yesterday. Quick recap from a bride'a P.O.V

FH and I couldn't make it to the wedding ceremony which was scheduled for 3pm however we did arrive on time for cocktail hour at 6pm. Everything was great at the reception we enjoyed ourselves and actually took notes.

1. Choose your songs wisely. If your going the traditional route and would like to stick to one song for the entire BP great but it was sort of boring hearing an entire song while the BP danced and waited.

2. Be mindful of your table setting. Our table was so crowded with fine China, glassware, silverware, favors and centerpieces that we didn't know where to begin. Most guests forgot their favors.

3. Favors are Not required. If you haven't chosen one yet, don't worry about it because your guests won't even miss them and will not question.

4. Be mindful of diet restrictions such as Nut allergies and vegetarians. Make sure your venue will cater to their needs as well

5. Make sure your music selections are made to please everyone. Cont...

The bride and groom had a decent amount of church folks and elderly and they made sure gospel music and Motown records were played.

    5. Choose your venue wisely. Although the place was very nice there were too many events occurring at the same time. I believe the place can hold up to 8 events. It was easier arriving at the venue then it was to go to the actual room. There were too many stairs and hallways which made it confusing and hectic.

    6. Don't sweat the small stuff. I spoke with the bride briefly and she said there were minor hiccups but no one can tell or even realized. She was just happy to marry her man and that's what mattered!!

Very nice recap! Favors are one of those things that we have been going back and forth over. Maybe we can just skip them!

Yes, so true on the favors. I would not worry about them. We did them for our wedding and hardly any were picked up.

I noticed crowded tables at the last wedding we went too. It was all necessary too, but 8 people at a table makes for a lot of "stuff."

The centerpieces weren't even that big. I definitely scaled back after experiencing an annoyingly crowded table.

I realized the overly crowded table and scaled back on my decor. I was overwhelmed just sitting there and actually forgot my favor as well. Now these days the guests just want to have a good time at weddings and could care less about a favor. Wish I knew that sooner or else I would've saved my money.

    Good tips!

We have some pretty big tables (12 people at a table) but they are using larger tables than normal...BUT our centerpieces are very basic/small, so glad to know it's better that way Smiley smile
